Message: I recently received a panasonic cd player for christmas. I am trying to install it in my 2000 Dodge Dakota Sport. I have installed many radios before and never encountered this problem before. When i hook everything up everything works but the speakers. I know that my Dakota came with the infinity sound system and i dont know if maybe it is the component subs in the door causing the problem. If anybody might have a solution please reply so i dont have to spend a lot of money to pay someone to do it...

Message: Make sure the factory system does not have an amplifier to it. If it does than this is why you are not getting any sound. You will have to do either a whole re-wire from the head unit to speakers or get an adapter which basically plugs into your factory harness and disables the factory amp, then you will have sound. The adapter tend to be a little on the expensive side, $50-60 maybe. If you have the time and patience, just do a rewire. Use the power from the wire harness like it is now, but run speaker wire from the head unit to the speakers. Might be cheaper but takes more time and to be honest with you i don't know if you can even get an adapter for dodge. they don't make them for some. Call a reputable car stereo installer, he should be able to tell you if there is an amp in there or not or check your original sticker. guaranteed if it is over 75 watts there is an amp somewhere.
