Subject: Tranny Flush IP: Logged
Message: I have a 97 Dakota CC with (now) 114,000 mi. I got it around 103000 mi, and noticed the tranny fluid had a bit of a brown tinge to it. I changed the filter and 4 qts of fluid in the pan and cleaned the magnet of sludge. Now, it's 4000 mi later and the fluid still a bit brown. It doesn't really smell burnt though, just doesn't look bright red. The trans seems to shift fine but the fluid has me concerned. Is there a way that I can completly flush the tranny out and put all new fresh fluid in? (ATF +4 was used to replace, but i really don't know anything about the history of the vehicle)

Message: You can just do a filter and fluid change again
and than again in like 5000 miles and you will
have about 90% of the fluid changed.
A power flush is not always a good idea and can
cause probs forcing dirt around.
If the trans still shifts good that is what I
would do and save yourself some money, I have seen
these trannies go over 250,000 with no probs
