Message: I recently purchased a 2000 Dakota Sport 4x4 Club Cab. I've had several problems since purchasing it in October..rear U-joint replaced, belt tensioner replaced, etc...however, each time I took it back to the dealer, I also brought up what I think to be a transmission problem. Shifting from 1st to 2nd & sometimes 2nd to 3rd often causes a loud clunking sound, and it is obviously not right. The dealer refused to recognize the problem under warranty and stated "normal drivetrain noise." I even had a mechanic take it for a test drive for $20, and he stated that something was definitely wrong, but still the dealer won't budge. Now the truck is out of warranty. Any advice as for what the problem could be and what to do about the dealer? I have printed stmts from the dealer twice indicating that no problem exists. Shift fork?
