Just wanted to share this!
my father has a friend at work that owns a speed shop with a dyno....last weekend they had Ford Day and had plenty of brand new stock GTs show up. All they could pull was 190 horses at the wheels. Ford claims they make 260 HP.....now correct me if i am wrong but that is way more than 15-19% driveline loss!
oh, and when i went to the track last weekend a stock GT ran a 12 in the 1/8th....A 12!!! he he he

you v6 truck is faster than a v8 mustang? what the hell is done to your truck?
dont take this the wrong way, i think the mustang will wipe the floor with a v8 dak, little lone ad v6. with the right air, the ford should run a 14 flat

chris, i know 260 at the crank....if you know anything about horsepower and driveline loss and rear wheel horsepower you would understand what i said....let me be more precise...
ahem,
the stock makes 260 horsepower....i understand that....
now take off 15-19% drivetrain loss (do i need to explain that too?)
that would get you about 211-221 horsepower at the rear wheels
but my point is that they were only producing 190 at the rear wheels....now i live pretty close to sea level so that would do it and it's about 50 degrees outside so that would make up for 20-30 horsepower....
understand?
i find it kinda funny that the only time you post anything is to b!tch at someone....you sure are a nice guy.....do you get much sleep?

oh kota,
besides all the stuff on my profile...
removed rear bumper (rollpan now)
no spare tire
no heat sheilds (except by the gas tank)
took out spare tire assembly
big hole in bed (for custom rear)
only have a tailgate skin (shaving the rear)
i've probably lost close to 300 pounds in all...
i have raced against new GTs without the NO2 but i didn't whip him...just beat him
oh, and those 14 flat times you hear about in car ads and Motor Trend are with professional drivers

intense, i guess i should stop worring about the stangs then. i have about the same mods as you (less the msd and NOS, but i have the M-1) on my 5.2. glad to hear your success with them!
with the suspencion you have, i guess it hooks really good!

hey, thanks! the drop is a western chassis 4/6, and yup, its c-notched.
in thoes picks, the front bumper is pulled down a little, because it got hung up on a curb, but its fixed now.
where did you get your tires? and how much? what rims do you run them on?

how much fun was it to c-notch your frame...i made a custom one out of metal...started from scratch.
i got my tires from a local speedshop....they were actually less than summit racing....$175 a piece (ouch)....right now i am running them on the good old factory 15x8s you see in the picture. i hope to get some lighter wheels, though.....Hoosier states that you can run them on a 7 inch wide wheel...yeah right...the tire with is 12.5 with a tread with of 11!

Ouch... Intensedak guy... hitting kind of close to home on that one... Supposidly Dak R/T's have 250 horse but they only dyno around 190 at rear wheels... so whatch your mouth young man!

And to give you an Idea of how terrible fords are... My dad drove his 92 mustang 5.0 LX 250 thousand miles before it needed a new clutch... Yes, peices of sh-t indeed... :^\ it now has 270 thousand miles on it and still runs great, has just as much power now as it did when it was new, doesnt blow smoke, car still shines like the day he pulled it off the show room floor, and he has had atleast 5 or 6 guys offer him 6 thousand dollars on the spot to sell that car. I mean... How much more poorly built can you get??? :P

So, since when can V8 guys not look in the 6 forum? I mean... i see bernd has a couple posts from on that sciminds post that says his 6 can outmatch an 8, in the V8 forum. I dont see you criticizing him. And all that bob guy was doing was stating his opinion on fords. Thats what this post is about isnt it? ford quality? I admit im not a big fan of fords but you dakneeder are an idiot. If you cant come up with a decent reply to somebodies legitment harmless post then I think maybe its best if you just kept it quiet...
And if any of you would get on and do your homework on the beloved dakota's you would see that criticizing the stang for having 190 hp at the rear wheels is also a knock on the R/T so if you have anything against the stang maybe you should let the V8 dak guys know.

How about the fact that a Stang is not a 5.0 but really a 4.9 rounded up? At least the dakotas engine sizes are what they claim to be. Not a figment of Fords imagination.

i've seen rt's hit 198-199 horsepower.....but they have automatics which have more powerloss in the drive train due to all of the clutches and converter and stuff.....man...i know what i am talking about.....
i wasn't saying individual cars suck....did i say your dad lx sucks......no!
i was referring to how bad FORD sucks....lied about their horsepower before (99 cobra) and did it again.....i think overall that mustangs are underpowered.....and sorry to say it but also the 360!
think about it
ford 4.6 has true dual exhaust, four cams, no pushrods, etc,etc,...etc and the cobra had less than 300 horsepower (ford claimed more,wrong) but know they supposedly have 320 (doubt it, i've seen stock Z28s tare them a new one)
ls1 is bigger yes, but one cam....old school pushrods (yes i know we have them to, be quite you 4.7 guys!) single exhaust less compression and a lot less but they have been hitting 320 horsepower since 98 when it came out...no recalls on power
the 360 does produce the most torque....but like dodge said...it's a truck engine...not a racecar
i've been waiting for some ford guy to notice this!
