Message: Will this mod help my 88? Was already going to get a K&N a bit later, but with all the TB talk, now I'm wondering about that. What can I do to my pre-mag. v6 in this respect?
Any info appreciated!!

Message: All you need to do is take a look at some of the
setups that sell for a couple hundred and go to
a hardware store buy some 3" pvc pipe get a K&N
cone filter to put on the end paint the pipes
black.
Locate the filter in front of the inner fender
well were it will grab cold air.
Oh ya just go to a bone yard and get an air hat
off a 97 or newer truck to put on top your TB to
hook the pipes to. and 2 rubber nohub conectors.
Yes it will help your throttle body injection
just like it does the multiport.
Or you can go with a 14X3 K&N and just bolt it on
it will help throttle response and gas mileage.
Did you ever get your o2 hooked back up that will
read more oxi coming in and add more gas for more
power.
I have seen many home made setups on these trucks
and they work just as good as one you would pay
big bucks for, most spend about $50 the cone
filter is around $40

Message: I posted somewhere I think, that the sensor we thought was an O2, probably isn't one. There is an O2 right in front of the cat that has the wires running all the way up at the firewall and look to be connected. The sensor we thought might have been an O2, also is on the exhaust manifold, drivers side, has a wire coming off with a narrow round beige (I think) connector. I was told by a local Car Quest guy, that my year shouldn't have a sensor there, and maybe someone changed the manifolds. Does he know what he's talking about? What do you think, Larry?

Message: Much thanks, Larry,
Do you have any idea what the sensor is on the exhaust manifold I mentioned above? I'm still wondering if it should be connected somewhere.
I went out and looked at it again and am going to attempt to describe it better...and don't anyone laugh. It's on the exhaust manifold towards the back, almost even with the first joint in the steering column, but above there of course, it's silver, long and narrow almost bullet like, gets narrower towards the top, about 1 1/2" to 2" long total, with a black wire about maybe 3"long, black rubber over connector about 1 inch long.
What the heck is it??? Was the guy at Car Quest correct when he said there shouldn't be anything like that on my 88?
