Pull the valve covers off and check for a loose rocker arm. May just have to tighten a rocker down. If it's a lifter, there is no good adjustment for it outside of a new set of lifters. A rod would have a metalic clank to it. Have you had oil pressure problems? How many mile on the engine? Check it out and get back to us. Good luck.

That sounds like a lifter. One other thing to try is change to a different brand of oil filter. But as long as it stops after startup , you not in to bad of a shape. Good luck.

yeah, sounds like a lifter loosing prime. like deep said, try a different brand/ weight oil. if it's quieting down after a minute or so your not too bad off.
