I posted another forum about my carb. now I can't get the truck to start the battery is very weak but I have it on the charger right now. but It wouldn't turn over even with the battery in normal amps. When I was working on the carb today I looked at what I thought was the float so I pushed it down the rod it was on it had two springs on it one on the top and one on the bottom. So when I put the top back on and started the truck I looked in the carb and it looked like it was running learn then I cut the truck off then restarted it and I saw gas coming out of those top injectors or what ever there called. Now it looks like its running too rich!! WHAT DO I DO!!!!!!!!!

There are no springs on the needle float assy
there is on the metering rods.

Pull the top back off something is not right there

The kit usualy comes with a pic of the breakdown
take a good look and see what you have wrong.

If I could see it I could probably find it right
away but its a little hard through a message board

Hey Trav

I have to run right now but if you cant figure it
out, I have books with the carb and may be able
to figure it out for ya and explain how to fix
the prob.

For now just pull the top back off and take a
close look maybe you will spot the prob

Will be back by tomorrow noon leaving for ILL in
about 15 minits.

the floats are usally brass in color[no springs]there will be two connected together, held to the carb on a horizonal pin[looking from the front of carb]the floats and pin will be in the front.

with the top off and the top up-side down you,ll view two rods protuding out about 2 1/2 to 3" these are the metering rods[don,t bend these,be careful]if you look down inside the carb beside the floats you,ll see two brass inserts with holes in the center of the brass inserts this is where the metering rods tip go when the top is put back on.[they need to be in the holes or the carb will allow to much fuel]

also while the top is up-side down you,ll see a plunger protuding out this is the accelarator pump.

[now bare in mind its been a few yrs since i,ve rebuild one of these]but if my memory serves me correctly, the brass fitting on the out side of carb, where the gas line connects holds the needle and seat.remove this fitting and needle and check for a small piece of dirt lodged in the needle and seat, this may be the problem.

last but not least one of the floats may have a hole and taking in gas.

hope this helps and not to confessing

Did you get it figured out, As vern said you may
have missed the jets with the metering rods and
than it would be like having it wide open all the
time.

You really need to be carful when you reinstall
the top to be sure the rods go in the jet holes
sometimes its a pain.

Also the float adjustment is critical
