Subject: What the @#$^& Trans?? IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys,
Got a problem with my trans that I just can't seem to lick. The problem is I run my scanner and it tells me I have a "Torque Converter Curcuit Electrical" fault. I changed out the sensors and it still does the same thing.
What it's doing:
I have a manual valve body but not realy. At a stop I have to put it in low to get first gear. Then I shift it like it was a manual valve body and does fine. I don't have OD. I have to come to an almost complete stop to get it back in first, but I have to put it in nuetrul wait a sec and then throw it in low. Doesn't bother me too much in town, just when I get on I95, due to the lack of OD. Tomorrow I'm going to drop the trans again flush it out again and make sure that all the connectioins are thoroughly cleaned out then stick it back together. If my torque converter was messed up would I get thte same code on the scanner? I'm almost in "the man" status when it comes to autos but this thing is just kicking my butt. Any ideas on this would be awesome. Maybe Larry since you work on Daks so much. Anyways thanks in advance.

Message: Is this the 98 if so check your TPS and your
(speed sensor will keep it from going into O/D)
check all the connections change fluid and filter
and go from there.
sounds like some TCC torque converter clutch
problem or otherwise called lock up and if it
is stickiking it will not go into low untill
you stop and start again.

Message: Thanks for the input Larry. Yes it's the '98. It's not the TPS, already checked that. The front clutch was on my list of possible bad stuff. Was hoping it was something simpler. I also thought that it may be a bad connection somewhere, since every now and then the trans works perfectly fine. (very rare though) I already changed the filter and fluid when I changed the govener solenoid and sensor. I was too busy today fixing other peoples rides to tend to my own. Hopefully I'll have a chance to fix it tomorrow. I'll let you know what it was once I finger it out.
