Subject: Oil pan removal IP: Logged
Message: Hi All,
I'm in the process of changing the oil pump. I would like to know the safest place to jack the engine up from. I assume (you know what they say about assuming) the harmonic balancer?

Message: Two important things to watch for; distributor cap and the fan & shroud clearance. A wood block under the oil pan, just raise it up enough to put the motor mount bolts back in the frame mounting holes. If you have a motor lift; raising from the top is the best. Use a good brand oil pump. I used a Mellings HV. Good luck.

Message: I do have an engine hoist, I have it to move my lathe and milling machine. Where is a safe place to lift it from on the top of the engine. Everythings aluminum and I don't want to break something causing myself more work.
Thanks
Gerard
