Message: wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong! every electrical curcuit in your truck has a fuse in it EVERY ONE! including the headlights, fuses are used to keep wires from over heating and catching fire should the current draw for a specific curcuit becomes too great. NEVER EVER go back to that goodweek dealer again except to tell him he is full of it and force him to repair the curcuits he ruined, I use the plural as the headlights, interior lights, and doorlocks are all independently fused.

Message: yes everything has fuses, so u dont mess up what u are running. Cheaper to replace fuses then headlights, so your goodyear dealer is wrong.

Message: No, i hear what your saying but some items could be controlled by the different 'puters/modules/relays, and may not have a typical fuse in the 'fuse block' locations. Goodyear didn't screw it up, aamco did, i just asked him to look at it when i had a flat fixed...but your right, i will have aamco fix it, i just wanted to know if because of the seemingly unrelated items, headlights/interior/power locks not working, maybe someone like Larry could say...'oh, that happens when you do this, or that'.(shrugs)

Message: ill have to take a look under mine to see whats there to tell u any process of elimination
the basics to check for are... good ground, good connections,(also a fuse would be in this catagory)moisture
best case diconnected wire/s
one of the more worse cases everything looks and tests good but may be a broken wire that does not carry a high amount of current (meaning u can use a multi meter and check resistence and it shows a connection but the minute u need to run a higher current for lights, locks, etc nothing)
cause could be smashed wire, twisted wire, pulled wire, all of these can look ok on visual and even on tests but most likely if u bend the wire a little they sometimes will fold on the broken point
also on the computer reset it may be since its i dont know what there called but a thermal switch usually resets and gives power again and sometimes soloniod activated switch
im thinking though its a pulled or disconnected wire
all i know is when its electrical it can get very time consuming and hard to trouble shoot if things get bad and right now they sound bad
best of luck and hopefully those guys know there electrical or u will have a long cold winter

Message: I hear what you are saying about the fuses but my truck does the same thing every time I pull my boat. One fuse blows and I lose all brake lights, headlights and dash lights. I don't have pl or pw. This has happened 7or 8 times and I know it will happen every time I haul the boat, so I keep several spares. Pulling my little trailor and tractor doesn't cause it and its never happened any other time. I know someone smarter than me is gonna say I'm wrong but I've had this problem ever since I got my boat and this one fuse is ALWAYS blown. I can't help what the books or the experts say. btw my truck is a 99DAk with 3.9 no mods except cold air intake and hacked tb.

Message: Well a badly wired boat trailer sounds like the case
i know i had missed wired a trailer once and it kept blowing the fuse on my dakota
Is the trailer a 4 way ,6 way, or 7 way?(since u can get adaptors to go from a 7 way to a 4 or 6 way)
My advice is to look over the wires more likely then not somethings grounding out(due to a bald or bad wiring)
If u dont find anything it may be in your plug on ur trailer
If it is just look it up on the internet example of what to search for "How to wire a 6-way trailer plug" They usually give u a pic and that better then me just telling u
One last thing how many lights does ur boat trailer have?
If at all possible whats the watt rating on the lights( since volts x amps = watts example: 120 volts x .5 amps = 60 watt same as a 60 watt household bulb but if we use lower voltage like a car has its 12 volts x 5 amps = 60 watts see the diff in amperage used) If u have a lot of lights this could be a problem but im doubtful it is

Message: Newbie, if your lights on your boat trailer are not watertight and you back them underwater you will blow a fuse. either seal the lights good or unplug your boat trailer before you launch. been there done that.

Message: Hmmm...I never knew that'd cause the fuses to blow, but my dad has to keep a nice supply of spare bulbs for our jet ski trailer because the bulbs explode when he puts the trailer in the water.

Message: i thought everybody knew to unplug there lights before they drive in the water. Well GB2000 if your dads lights blow, that means the fuse on the circut is to big for the wattage u have. So i would put a smaller fuse on that circut, so the fuse will blow instead of the trailor lights, if u are going to keep doing that.

Message: no kidding... we had a nice 85' Thunderbird that we had a local aamco repair (they done an awesome job before on all of our cars) but they changed mechanics and this time, it went in for a starter and a fuel pump, it came back with a bent flywheel and crank, and the whole bottom end of the motor was in the oil pan.
lets just say were talking to an attorney for damages and disputing their 400+$ repair bill.

Message: I had the same problem.
Fuse is under the hood in the main box.
Not labled as such.
I changed them all, one at a time, until headlights came on.
Sorry, i don't recall which it was.
There is no mention on the fuse box covers at all!
