Message: My trans is slipping and i need a new one. I was wondering about how much one is rebuilt FROM chrysler, i think you get a discount from chrysler...(hopefully) and was wondering if you could tell me how much would it be for a 94 3.9 dakota. My father will get the same discount but hes in Florida right now doing some work and he has no time to help me....anyway you can find out or show a wesite that will show me about how much there going for?
Thanx

Your best bet is to find a used one in a bone yard
the local yards around here give a 90 day warantee
on used parts except electrical.
Northern automatics in mishagan will rebuild for
$500 to $1000 and are guranteed 3 years 30,000
miles.
Check around and you will find something, a good
trans shop can do an overhaul, best way to do it
is take it out and drop it off saves you the
removal and instalation labor costs.
I do my own rebuilding so my cost is just the kit
they are basicly the same trans as the 904 and 727
with sime electrical stuff and overdrive and you
do not need any special tools to do a mopar trans
unlike chevy or ford

Message: The trannies in these trucks are very similer to
the old 904 and 727's some of the parts still
interchange.
You can use the alm modulater valve out of one
of the older trannies and install it in the A500
and 518 with a blocker rod to firm up 1-2 2-3
shifts, replacing the plastic or nylon one they
come with from the factory.
And many other mods that were used on the older
trannies will also work on the new O/D trannies
