Subject: Help! Truck won't start IP: Logged
Message: It started fine one morning, later that day it doesn't turn over. Lights and radio come on, everything is normal except nothing from the starter motor. Battery is good, and I hear the relay clicking when I try to start. I put a multimeter and tested from the bottom wire on the starter to the two on top, there is current.
Any suggestions? I need to get it running soon.
Thanks
Brad

Message: That happened with my truck too, battery
voltage will test fine but the amps may not be
up to par(the stock battery sucks). So check
the amps both with and without the load of the
starter. The clicking you hear closely
resembles the clicking i heard. I was told by a
tech that it was bc there wasnt enough amps
to trun the starter. I dont know if that was the
real story of what was going on, but after a
good clean of the battery terminals and an
overnight on th charger, she turned right over.
Maybe yours is the same, trying never hurt
though especially against the price of a new
starter.

Message: Thanks, I found the problem. I tested the solenoid, it was getting power. I jumped it and it started up. Problem is the tranny linkage is stretched or something. I was told it could be bent, and just to bend it back. Right now everything is shifted over, park is reverse, etc.
Is bending it back simple or should I let a tranny place do it, and charge me an hours work for 5 mins.
Thanks
