 Subject: tire sizes

Which number is which when you read a tire size? One is height and one is width but which one? Will 255/55r16 work in place of the factory 255/65r16? Gotta get snows on! Will the difference in these two sizes be in height or width?

try this site. you'll be able to compare the 2 sizes. the 1st number is width 2nd # is ratio of sidewall to width.
