Message: I understand why you are mad, but I'm glad that they didn't decide to turn Bonfire into something that just wouldn't do the tradition justice...it wouldn't be the same without "cut", with a smaller different shaped "stack"...
I'm a firm believer that the tradition shouldn't be changed, lessened, but that it would be retired and go down as a great part of A&M History, of which I was honored to be part of...
To me it was more about the comradere, the working together as a team, and making some really great friends...
I helped build the 1991 Bonfire, and will never forget that experience... I loved my bonfire t-shirt...it said "Rent a friend, join a frat. Earn a friend, build a bonfire!"
I was also one of the Dunn Hall "letter heads"...
I was the "T" for Texas... we spelled out "Fighting Texas Aggie bonfire 1991 Dunn Hall Gig'em Aggies F**K you"...
And yes, I still have my Bonfire "Pot"
Gig'em!

Message: Tom,
Thats great that you were apart of that. I envy you and I wish I could be apart of it, but I am afraid that I and all Aggies after me will never get to experience what you have. It makes me sad when I think about. And I keep telling myself that you are right and that it is better to let Bonfire pass than to destroy it by changing it to something awful, like Bowen wanted. It is just hard, and it will be for a while.
Who knows, maybe we will make something new. I think we should revert back to the original Bonfire and go gather trash from the College Station area and burn it with the outhouse on top! Maybe I can get that going.....
