Subject: Removing pan with 4 wheel drive IP: Logged
Message: I have a 94 4 wheel drive with a 3.9l V6, do you know if I have to completely disconnect the front differential or can I unbolt it from the frame and let it down with the axles still connected and get clearance to remove the pan.

Message: I don't know. But I can tell you that I know you can do that on a 2000 with a 4.7 because I had to do this once at work. I also had to drop the steering rack and let it hang the same way. I would definitly try it.
Good luck
Nicholas

Message: well first of all 2000 dakot has a rack 94 has box. I did my pan on a 318 4x4. u have to use a lift and disconnect the front diff mounts so the axle hangs ( make sure u use a suppoort bracket so it doesnt drop too much) u might have to also take the starter out. This is how i've done it but if u have no lift i'll just give it to a garage costs around $170 to replace it.
hope this helps.
