went up to the local cruise strip tonight to see what was goin' on. it was pretty dead, but i ran across a kid in a black gen III dak that wanted to race. his was basically the same as mine, r/c, short box, 3.9l, but his was a stick, mines auto. i had one person w/ me, he was alone. first time we went from a 15 roll and he got the jump on me, i then pulled on him from his door and put him at my rear bumper; traffic. we then went from a stop, he again got the jump by a few feet then i put about 1-1.5 lengths on him. we talked for a minute and found out he was bone stock and i told him what i had (intake, exhaust, pulley. he was a really cool guy, and it's nice to know that the mods i've done have helped.
also had a girl in a newer camaro V6, A4, who wanted to line em up, then she jumped the light. it was still red and she took off. i waited a second then i went. she had about 2 lengths on me, then i started pulling. i got within about 1/2 car length then we both shut down. oh well, she was kinda chunky anyways.

Was it a V6 camaro or an AUDI A4 because they make the A4 in a 2.8 V6 and in a respectable 1.8TURBO. i'd be impressed to see a dakota beat a A4 either way.

With a stick keep in mind also that the driver can make all the difference. Not bashing your truck there are situations where it does play little factor. I've heard of two different guys driving the exact same truck and with one it's a truck and with the other it's a sport truck if you get my drift. Again you probably had the superior truck but a kid usually just doesn't know how to drive a stick.

wow, someone went dredging for old threads.

Gooberlog, it was a 3.4l V6 Camaro. A4 was used to decipher the transmission in the car, 4 speed automatic = A4.

92dakotahd, yeah I realize the driver of the M/T would come into play and the the A/T's in these trucks are total slushboxes. Now that I think about it he wasn't hitting the gears too hard. But even at that, I think my truck would've still had enough to pull on him (intake, UD crank pulley, no cat/custom dynomax catback)
