Ok, so my check engine light came on, (97 Dakota V6 4x4) I did a key flash, and the number 12 comes up. I went to OBDii.com, searched, and they said no matches. Then I went to a buddies shop, plugged in a scanner, and the only thing that came up was something about a manufacturers message??? We cleared the codes with the scanner, and the check engine light went out, but the code still comes up with the key flash. I just clicked over 60,000miles if that matters.

In't that the code for 95 and earlier vehicles?? I found that on the net somewhere too, but later realized it was for a an earlier model. Whats your source? My battery was never disconnected, till the light came on anyway.

Hmmm, weird, it says the check engine light will not show when this code is stored?? I guess I'm gonna have to talk to the stealership. Thanks for the help,

this will solve your problem....just put some tape over ur check engine light and it will never bother u again. if u take it to autozone they will run ur codes for free

I have the same problem except mine is a 2x4 and had 125000 miles I had a fuel injector replaced and everything was fine till tonight when the "idiot" light came on again flashing 12 which is BS cause the thing runs fine I am geeting really frustrated, pretty bad when my 90 dakota v-6 runs better than my 97
