Subject: Do I need an oxygen sensor ? IP: Logged
Message: Hi, I have a 92 dak 3.9 with 150,000 miles on it and I have a serious exhaust leak. (manifold bolts broke in head like many do) It has been like that for as long as I have had it and probably a lot earlier than that. My question is, Will that exhaust leak screw with the oxygen sensor? Also, will it cause a severe loss in power? I think I have noticed a loss as of late and it seems to get a little worse mileage.

Message: yes, a bad leak will cause a lack in power and could cause the motor to idle funny.

Message: yes, to both, the O2 sensor senses for the PCM the actual fuel ratio mix,and allows thw PCM to control the actual fuel ratio mix, and if it goes bad, (recommended change at 60,000 miles,) both power and milage are adversly affected.

Message: How much does one usually cost and can I just go to Auto Zone and get it or is it a dealer only part? Mine is probably original.
