Subject: 94 Dakota Stalling Problem IP: Logged
Message: Hello,
We have a 94 Dodge Dakota 4x4 Extended cab with a plow. It only has about 34k miles on it. Under the hood it is very rusty btw from sitting outside. I have read many posts on the board but it seems theres tooo many possibilities what it could be. Could anyone tell me exactly what it is?
Problem:
Stalls when cold/hot. When shifting from Park to reverse or to drive it will stall. Even trying to powerbreak it to move the damn thing it stalls. Driving down the road its fine. No missfires. No low battery or anything.
What should i do?
thanks
Mark

Message: I've got a 94 3.9 but with a manual transmission. It used to stall when I'd put in the cluch. I'm not sure exactly what is happening with yours, but replacing the Idle Air Control Motor fixed my problem. You might want to stop and have a friendly chat with a dealer mechanic, they usually will help out even if you don't bring it in for repairs. Good luck.

Message: Thanks for the reply. I dont really think its the IAC valve because if it was i believe the idle would be eratic. Im almost leaning toward something with the distributer or mabye the map...but i guess those would be replace and test jobs =(
Just wanna get it fixed before snow hits =(
Gotta look into the blower motor and resister too...its not working no more. Ugh its not good to let vehicles sit.
