hey i like the info you provide to this site. it's good to have a mechanic that knows something when you need to know it. i have a question, i just ordered the dynomax 17748 and saw you had it too. i was wondering if you were happy with it? how does it sound to you? too loud in the cab not loud enough outside? please let me know if you think i should go with the 40 series delta flowmaster. thanks in advance

I had the flowmaster 40 series and i loved it, it was loud in the cab but from the outside it sounded like a muscle car when i was idling. The flowmaster rusted through a couple weeks ago (i've had it though about 4 years of winter driving) so i threw on a the dynomax that a local parts store had in stock and i think it's too quiet, both inside and out. The power is about the same though.

Hey there spitz the Dynomax is a nice quiet muffler but has a little tone to it when you press the gas..

I seen something on Hot rod tv today you might like, they had a partical exhaust system by flomaster for the Chevy 6 cylinder and they might make the same thing for the 3.9.. It MADE THE 6 SOUND REEEEL GOOOD.. Slick

Love my dynomax,

With the carsound cat its great sounds good at
idle a slight hum at 2000 than it raps but not to
loud just enough that you know its there.

The hum is just the nature of the V6 quite in the
cab

They are about the same the flowmaster is just a
little deeper sound hard to tell the diff.

But go with the 50 or the dynomax the 40 is loud

Yes I would recomend the dynomax

thanks a lot i needed an honest opinion on this i think either my muffler is plugged or the oxygen sensor is going bad because until it's warmed up it wants to die repeatedly. it's got 100,500 miles and the stock 02 sensor is original but i'm using it as an excuse to get the muffler anyways

HUMM

Just say the bad muff ruined the O2 and I would
replace it also it will give you better gas
mileage. oe vise versa,

The O2 is recomended replaced 60 to 80,000

I always get yelled at when I spend money on my
toys so I know exactly what your saying.

Time for this old man to hit the hay

You will like the dynomax

Hi Larry! Thanks for the info you provide on this forum. I have a 1990 3.9L 2WD auto x-cab Dakota & have the opportunity to buy the following:

1/ mopar intake-#4452114
2/ camshaft-P4452810-lift-.430/.450
-dur. 260/268
-overlap-44
-centreline-110
3/ 1.7 rockers-harland sharpe type
4/ heads with oversized valves with bowl work & match porting
5/ card spacer for 390cfm 4bbl card
6/ lifter kit + chrome valve covers

If these are installed in my truck(I will have to pay someone to do this), how much "realistic" HP can I expect to gain from the stock 125? What is a reasonable price for the above pkg?
