Message: Its true on all the TB's there is a 2mm torque
step in the body above the throttle plates that
can be removed.
Look straight down the bore from the top and you
will see the casting is smaller than the plates.
If you have a V8 body on your 6 do not remove this
step or it will be to much for the motor and you
will lose all your low end power 50 mm is to much
for a V6
But you can remove it on a v6 body and gain
because they come with anything from 42 to 46mm
and will give you more power and low end response

Message: Larry thanks for your advice because your advice is like gospel..
I am going to change the throttle body soon and I wanted to make sure it was at 48mm and not 50mm just for the reasons you stated..
By what I read in your reply is that the brand new 1996 318 TB should be at 48mm stock from the factory and not 50mm.. I take it that they both take the same size gasket as well??
I am fairly new to this forum and your advice is much apperciated..
I like your idea of double IAT sensors and I think I am going to do the same thing to mine.. I take that the long wire that you have running to the grill Iat sensor does not bother the IAT sensor operation?
I have one more question while I have your ear, where is my throttle positioning sensor is it on the throttle body? I need to go buy a repair manual soon, thanks again for all your help.. Cya Brent

Message: The V8 bodys have 50mm plates with a 48mm step
yes same gasket and bolt patern Yes 48mm
92 to 95 need 92 to 95 body EGR
96 and up need 96 up V8 body NON EGR
Be sure you get the right one for your truck
or you will have idle probs
Your TPS throttle posistion sensor is located on
the drivers side, side of tbody to read voltage
center wire and ground .7 .75 is a good place to
be closed (idle) posistion
