Subject: truck stalls help please!!!! IP: Logged
Message: Had this problem with my 94 3.9 dak 4x4,The truck will go along fine then stall,Sometimes it will chug a bit before it dies and other times not,If I tap the back of the gas tank it will start right away,But if I don't tap it the engine will crank but not fire. The other strange thing is sometimes putting the truck into reverse causes the truck to run rough(shuttering)....Has anyone else had this problem????

Message: Ya thats what I thought to but would the pump cut in and out like that? Also when you place the truck in reverse sometimes it seems as though it wants to quit,Also the idle rpm seem to jump a little between 1000 and 1200..Not alot but enough that you can hear the diffrence,And the lights dim..Did notice that the green light on my diehard battery was not green anymore..Could a bad battery be causing this ?
I did giggle the wires going to the pump while the truck was running and didn't change the idle.
I must metion that my truck is auto(if that makes a diffrence.)
Thnaks for the info JJ,I am going to re check the wires on the pump and take it from there.
Just if I have to replace the pump I want to make sure that the 300.00 is going to the right part.

Message: There are two filters in the fuel pump. either one of these clogged or a weak fuel pump can cause the engine to be very tempermental. it can cause intermitent problems that are hard to trace. Is there any difference when the tank is full vs. empty?

Message: i had this problem on my 93 jeep grand cherokee limited, what your gonna want to do as well as check your fuel pump is check your sensors for the vehical, throttle position sensor, airflow and water temp, proably your oxygens to since they all go out around the same time, its usully good measure to replace your fuel pump and change the fuel filtre at the same time also, once thats done you should have no problem starting up and you will run alot smoother. As well as you wont stall in traffic anymore.
