get a stage 2 jet chip. it alters sensors in the manifold vacuum, changes coolant temp., throttle position and timing, shift points, adjusts spark timing, air to fuel ratio. by recalibrating these things you gat about 25hp AND YOUR TOP SPEED LIMITER IS BYPASSED i can really tell a difference with it on, about the top speed limiter i was going up a hill in my 2001 dokota sport 3.9 an i got up to 115, then it started accelerating real slow and i ran outta ground, i dont know how fast i coulda gone. but look into the chip

my 2001 3.9l hasn't shut down on me yet and i was at 115 with about a 1/4 pedal left then i let out because at that speed dakotas do not feel very comfortable ( if you know what i mean ). Anyways why the hell do you wanna go that fast anyways it's just stupid to drive that fast and not to mention DANGEROUS!!!!!! even if you were running quarter mile, unless your truck was serverly modified, you'd never see 100 in the quarter anyways..... so honestly, WHAT DO YOU REALLY NEED TO BE ABLE TO GO THAT FAST FOR..... if you can come up with a legit answer then i'll support your post otherwise your on your own with this one.

Cuz iam 17 and its fun to me. I only would do it if its way out in the bonies. I live in Ga so its not that hard to find a long stretch with no cops on it and no people. Like when i go to Renalds Ga, (The Local Drag Strip) there is a four lane stretch about 3 miles long, and not to mention, there is no cops on it. Me and my friends will take it to the max. I have hit my govener several times(120mph). I know its wrong but its fun. I know you will disagree with me, YOU'LL say " you 17 what do you know" Tell me did you not have fun when you where young, and i know 99% of these people here are young at hart!!!!

There's no way to remove the speed limiter on the V6's at this time...even the Jet Stage-II won't do it.
(Hey...us older folks were 17 at one point as well and thought we were invincible...let alone above the law.) ;)

He had some other "tricks" done by SciTech (Turbo shop in FL).
On the '97 and older Daks, you can delay the speed limiter from kicking in my changing the speedo gear to the largest available...this works...but your speedo will be off.

Jay needs to get over it. I am 18 with a stock 3.9L. I can get it up to 120mph in no time and it keeps pulling. I still don't know what the top speed is but I will find out.I don't know why sicminds can't get it past 105mph, and I have an auto.

You may have one of the "fluke" PCM's which didn't have the speed limiter enabled. It's happened before.

anyways....... if you read my post i don't need to get over anything my truck has hit 115mph with a 1/4 pedal left which in turn means that it will probably run faster then that but i choose not to go that fast nor do i condone anyone having to go that fast in their truck or car because hmmm how should i put this...... IT's FU*king STUPID AND DANGEROUS.... your wanna speed like an as*hole then feel free but make sure your not anywhere near me or my family or friends. Personally i think this is a ridiculous post and posts like this should not be allowed here because this board is for enthusiasts not RECKLESS drivers. Your speed limiter is a government mandated thing and it is there for a reason and that reason is so that you do not exceed the maximum speed rating of your tires, if you were to exceed their maximum rating you could have a blow out or you could cause the belts to tear and separate inside the tire, you never know what could happen till it happens and i'd to tell ya what it's like to have a tire blow when your doing 100 mph, let's just say it's not very much fun. If you've ever been to lime rock park in connecticut you'll have seen the 90 degree turn that is at the bottom of a nice big hill we'll when i raced scca improved touring and showroom stock i had a tire blow out at the bottom of that hill as i was turning into the 90 degree probably doing about 75 to 80 coming down that hill and it was all i could do to keep that car on the track but that didn't happen and i ended up rolling the car over about 5 times before it stopped on it's roof. So if anyone should tell you that speeding is stupid it should be me, i have only had that 1 bad accident in 5 years of racing but i have 2 regional trophies and many first and second place trophies for both showroom and IT, i've been there and done it and if it wasn't for racecar safety equipment and it had happened on the street then i'd probably not have been so lucky with that accident, i'm happy i only broke a rib and my hand..... so do what ya like i really don't care but you have one life and that is it, respect it and always respect your vehicle no matter what it is because the second you lose respect for it that's the second it kills you.....

jay is right, immature kids like you wanna drive over 100mph on public roads are just statistics and headlines waiting to happen. where i live in buckingham, pennslyvania, a couple days ago a kid who is in the 12th grade was driving to school on highway 263, a wide open 4 lane highway, he was driving at what police estimated at over 100 miles an hour he lost control went into oncomming traffic and killed himself and another person. from article--> "Kola died at Abington Memorial Hospital Monday afternoon after police say his car slid into oncoming traffic when he lost control while weaving through traffic at a high rate of speed on Route 263 in Buckingham." I wish i had a pic to show you but i dont, so why dont you idiots think twice before you do stupid stuff like that on public roads, and why the hell are you drivin your pretty much all stock dakota that fast anyway? are you stupid? yes you might have a Flowmaster 40 series muffler and an airraid intake but that doesnt make your truck a race car, if i ever caught you drivin that fast i would rip you outta that truck and straight pound your face in right in front of all your friends. you gonna kill yourself or someone else. HAVE SOME RESPECT!!!

To all the people that think they know what they are talking adout. When I do 120mph it is on a empty highway at 3 in the moring. Also to jay, I can not belive you tried to make a 90 degree turn at 75 to 80mph. Now that is RECKLESS. All I got to say is stay out of my way GRANDPA.

Didn't i tell you that this was on a open road, out in the middle of nowhere and its late at night, there is no one on this road, and its all strait as a arrow. There are no houses on this road, and the closest town is 30 miles away. Do you think i am so fu*king stupid to do that Sh*t in town or around people. Iam not even coming close to the speed rating of my tires, My tires are rated at 150 mph, not the 100 mph of the stock tires. And i know that flowmaster dont make my truck a race car and i know i ain't no race car driver!!!!!! But i think i can hadle a strait line road. Thanks Grandpa!!!!!!!!!!

ummmmm..... just in case you didn't catch that the 90 degree corner was taken in a RACE CAR ON A RACE TRACK where you corner at high rates of speed, this was not done on the street, it was at a RACE TRACK IN A RACE CAR..... if you have never been to lime rock in ct then you would not know that when descending the hill before the turn the cars can reach some pretty insane speeds due to gravity helping out BIG TIME,,,, this part of the race track is the hardest corner to master on the entire track and is probably one of the hardest corners to master out of any track in the USA... it goes like this ... you descend the hill, reaching a crazy speed, brake firmly, brake hard enough but do not flat spot you must modulate perfectly, turn into your line, get back full on throttle... this vehicle rolled when descending that hill as i was about to turn in as i was braking going into that turn.... the reason it rolled was because of a blow out, the car slid sideways, hit the grass, went back to the pavement and when the tires caught that's when it went over...... DON'T F*CKING CALL ME GRANDPA because i am far from being a grandpa, i have an scca license and i do race BUT I DO IT ON A TRACK NOT ON THE STREET.. i am sick of paying out the a*s every month for insurance because you retards wanna drive like a bunch of Dyck heads, so go ahead and speed but you know what.. i don't wanna ever hear ya complain that your insurance is too high because you asked for it and it's high because of stupid drivers...
this is all i have left to say on this you wanna race then do it on a track not on the street you could race scca solo 2 or road racing if you need to satisfy your need for speed both can be done on a small budget...

The speed limiter is controlled by signals from the CABS. Yes, several folks on the R/T list have already tried bypassing the ASD...didn't work as expected.
