The Superchips programmer :
User options on the "3715" are as follows.
Raise rev limiter
Raise speed limiter
Correct speedometer for tire height changes on 2 and 4 wheel drive vehicles
Speedo corrections will work on all, except some very early 1998 models.

Message: I'm sorry but 100+ mph DANGEROUS ?
You do realize that at that speed you'd be considered as a threat to public safety on the highway in europe ... lol
France: Avg. Speed 100-110mph on highways, Germany: Avg. Speed 120-150mph on the autobahn ... and amazingly not that many people get killed ... you just get past the idiots faster that way :/ lol
ex.: my dad's been driving at around 130mph for something like 25 years on german highways now and has never crashed yet, and theres millions of others who do the same thing.
Oh yeh, some different ideas:
If you weren't in crappy cars, maybe you wouldn't get scared at those speeds.
If you weren't in crappy cars it wouldn't be half as dangerous cos no matter what you wouldn't get hurt - same goes for other people. [I've seen a Mercedes S600 take off the highway going 250km/h - 155mph - about with the driver getting outta the car a little dizzy and with a broken nose from the airbag. Those things really just shouldn't exist.]

Message: N56629,
What's faster you Dakota or you airplane. You asked in another post how much fuels gains with Amsoil in my truck. Using it in the engine, auto tranny and differential 2 mpg. I have seen others claim as high as 4 mpg, just thought you would want to know.
92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.

Message: I've never topped out the Dakota so I don't really know. Not really comfortable on S rated tires and the light feel of the front end.
The plane is a PA28-235 and is rated at 157 mph. I'm pretty confident the truck can top 150 so they are probably not too far a part.
If I got another 2mpg with Amsoil I would be getting over 20 mpg. Do you think that is likely? I'm thinking of going to synthetic in the Stratus, but I also think newer style engines are much better suited to synthetics.
In the other Dakota I use AeroShell W 15W-50 which is a semi-synthetic oil. It's changed every 50-60 hours. That would be every 6-8000 miles to grounded people. That's about four bucks a quart and it takes 12 quarts to fill it.

Message: I have had 2 Dakotas, 93 Sport 4x4 3.9 ltr 5 SPD, and a 94 Extended Cab LE 4x4 5.2 ltr Auto. Neither one was limited. I hit 135 mph in the 93, and topped out at 130 in the 94. Both of them would have gone faster, but, gearing of trans and rear-ends, aerodynamics and low octane gas played big parts.

Message: Low octane gas doesn't really play a big part in that. While gearing might make a little difference, it's pointless to claim you are capable of going faster except for the aerodynamics - since you can't run the truck in a vacuum ! Bottom line - the top speed you hit is what the truck is capable of.

Message: Kowalski, Low octane gas plays a parts, so does aerodynamic drag. Everything that you put in your truck plays a part in the performance. My 94 was stock except for a k&n air filter. My 93 had an exhaust system, cold air kit, and a performance computer.

Message: I don't think you understood my points. The reason that low octane gas doesn't really make a difference, is that simply going to higher octane gas does not make more power unless an engine is specifically tuned for that - with something like extra spark advance. Since higher octane gas is harder to ignite, you could make less power by simply changing that. I never said aerodynamic drag doesn't play a part in determining what top speed you can hit - in fact, that and horsepower are the two major determining factors. My point there was simply that it's rather pointless to say your truck could have gone faster except for the aerodynamics. The aerodynamics are a big part of what makes a truck a truck, this is just something we are stuck with. Get rid of the larger cab, and the boxy bed - and it's no longer really a truck ! Then what you'd have is more like a car going faster, not your truck...
