Raced my friends Civic today in my 94 CC 3.9 Dakota. Side by side until about 35 then he starts to leave me. I hate my V6. Its way too slow. I can't wait to inherite my dad's 2003 CC 4.7. Has anyone else ever been embarrassed like this by a ricer? I hate them and my V6.

You left out some important details like, what mods have have you or him done? Are the vehicles auto or manual? If you have a 5spd, when do you shift?

Yes. Very important. Cause the rest of the v6's on this site say they can handle mustangs. And is your 4x4 or Rear Wheel? I mean with a 175 hp and 230 lb torque, compared to a little 110 hp prolly less torque then hp on that car. He must and is it a Vtec or Si?

What are you wishin your dad to croak? Get yourself a good education and a good job and buy yourself a Ram 2500 with the Hemi or the Cummins HO. You won't be sorry with the quality and no pos Jap truck or American for that matter will touch it.

Now for a success story. I was driving my friend home one night at at about 2 in the morning. I stopped at a red light and, as usual, started creeping forward as the other light turned yellow. Once my light turned green I started accelerating normally all the way into 3rd gear and the next thing I know I hear what sounded like a really loud lawn mower next to me. I didn't need a second invitiation so I floored it. This Honda Accord with a muffler slapped on it and who knows what other mods was trying to race me! He kept sort of close to me up until 60 mph and then I really started to pull away from him. He gave up when I got to 85 with plenty of RPMs left.
My truck is a 2001 Dakota Sport, regular cab, 2WD, with a 5 speed manual. The only mod I had at the time was a 2 chamber flowmaster. Since then I have added an Airaid intake and throttle body spacer. I also had a Linex bed liner sprayed in recently, too.

His is a 95 4 door DX. I think he has a intake, shortshifter, exhaust, and its lowered with some light rims and wide tires. It is also a 5 speed. Mine is a auto, 2 wheel drive, 3.55 gears, no posi or anything except dual exhuast. I can't even spin the tires from a stop. I guess I just got the runt of the litter. Also later today I raced my friend's GMC Sonoma RC Auto 4x4. It wasnt really a race though, because we both had rolling starts everytime so I could'nt really tell who won. I have completly given up hope on my Dakota. I'm even scared to try and pass someone on a two lane.

Some one mentioned for you to buy the Hemi forget that and get the SRT10.. That awesome truck is the fastest truck on the road..

Hey dont give up on your 3.9, you just need to go thru and make sure it is runing as good as it can and then you can start doing some mods to it..
My first car 1972 had a 225 6 cylindr and it was not that fast but I did all the things to it to make it look fast..
I had plenty of big Chrysler V-8s and you might beat some people then but you know what all it does is eat more gas and get you speeding tickets..
Enjoy your first truck and learn from it by working on it.. Your right about the SRT10 there is only going to be 1300 of them made and I am sure they are going to cost a pretty pennie..
I now work for Mopar like my father did and I can afford a SRT10 if I wanted to but it is not all about that anymore.. Make your truck look good and enjoy working on it have fun with it..

Ben You may be right about the number of them being made because my memory is not as good as it used to be..
The only thing that pisses me off about DiamlerChrysler is they make limited edition SRT10 and the limited SRTNeon..
They could sell a ton of them if they would make more, so dont tell me our jobs our on the line when you could sell a ton more cars if they would make the..
I can tell you guys one thing I work at were they store the concept cars and man if they mass produce the right cars you are going to love them.. Cya

Cant spin the tires on the auto?? Sure you can, you just need to preload the converter. Before you take off, mash on the brake with your left foot and give it a little gas. Not much, just enough to feel some resistence. When it's go time, drop the hammer and lift the brake. Your tires will spin.

Yeah, I've tried that but it dosn't seem to work. I can powerbrake it all day but I just can't seem to spin them off the start(unless its raining but that dosn't count). I guess I'll just drive it until I get my new truck and put all my time and $$$ into it. By the way, has Powerdyne came out with a supercharger for the 4.7 yet? That's what I really want.

ok i really hope that your truck is not running right...cuz getting beat by a dx is terriable! no offence man belive me i have done almost everything to my v6 dak and if i had to do it again i wouldent...my mods are pulleys, exhaust, v8 tb, 1.7 rr, msd 6a,5.0 19lb injector, cold air intake, and a ton of body mods..i also use to run a 75 shot on it but that was scary hitting the button beucase no matter how well i tuned the truck i would still pull out discolored spark plugs...i guess the 3.9 is not ment to go fast. owell tho cuz the truck still is 1 of the best looking trucks u can buy imo. do your self a fav dont spend any money on mods, cuz this motor does not respond at all to them. if your looking to go fast just buy a early 80's s10 thats already ben converted to a 350 v8, believe me u wont be dissapointed at all..u can pick one up in good condtion for under 2000 and can go mid 13's will nothing but suspention work, assuming that the motor is a decient motor.. as for the srt10, that thing looks bad ass but its a dog! its onyla 13 sec truck for $$50,000 + no thank u, the lighting will eat that truck up all day long. say what u want but that truck sucks, and is far from being the fastest truck on the road.

Slow Dakota you have gave the most mis information I have ever heard..
I hope no one listens to this ingorant guy, because I have been to the proving grounds and the test track and watched them do there test between Ford and GM..
I hate to tell you that the SRT10 125 more HP than the Ford lightning it smoked the Ford in all the tests that they did..
I will give credit where credit is due and our Hemi did a tug of war against a Chevy at the proving grounds and it was a even match in 4 wheel drive, but when both of them where in 2 wheel drive the Hemi pulled the Chevy backwards..
There is nothing wrong with the 3.9 other than the guy that is working on it,This is only a 6 cylinder and not a 8 so live with it..
The 3.9 will respond just fine it all depends on how much money you got to spend, a lot of these guys want a ton of power for very little money, not gonna happen..
There is one thing that I will knock Mopar for is that there is not enough performance support from them on our 3.9 and that is to bad..
Back in the day you could buy a kit from Mopar for the 225ci 6 cylinder depending on how fast you wanted to go.. I seen one kit in there catalog that had twin 4 barrels on the intake of the 6 cylnder, I wish I still had that Catalog..
Slow Dakota quick spreading mis information because all you are doing is dumbing down some of these guys that listen to what you are saying.. So help when you have all the facts or know what you are talking about, that is a big problem in this country on so many issues dumb people giving there opinion on some thing they know nothing about, that is what they are calling the dunmbing down of America and it is to bad too.. lol yea i guess running nitrous and a charger and still turning in high 14 sec time slips means that the truck responds well to mods? thats a joke. theres one v6 dak thats in the low 13's and that took a ton of cash and work.. how is this miss information? go to dakotausa.com thats where i saw the srt10's times posted and it said 13.5, i have seen STOCK lightnings run that at etown, just wait till the 500/500 lightning comes out the srt10 is goin to get tooled, i highly down that the srt10 was out hadling the lightning too... the 3.9 is with out a doubt one of the worst mod responding motors i have ever worked with. like i said i have done almost all the bolt ons you could and it was not worth the cash.. puta blower on a 3.9 rc 2wd and ur still in the 15's that a compleat joke.

I just have to walk across the street to Mopar performance guys and ask any questions that I cant figure out for myself.. I never said I know it all but I can beat those times no problem.. If you have not figured it out yet I work for Mopar..
On the Srt10 issue each company will go back and forth trying to out do each other which they will do, no doubt about it until it is to fast or to expensive to buy..
I was just thinking if you have all this money to buy all those mods you should be able to buy the motor you want and go fast.. Well have fun and do some more research before you spend any more money.. Well have fun and if it aint any fun anymore you better quit.. Cya

i spent about 490 with out the nitrous. thats not including the body mods but since they dont help speed it doesent matter. i have no times for the truck seeing as i would not want to see a 16 sec time slip w/o nitrous. on the street i have raced a rt with a exhaust and intake, when i hit 100 he looked to be 4 feet away from my roll pan. as for this---- I was just thinking if you have all this money to buy all those mods you should be able to buy the motor you want and go fast.. Well have fun and do some more research before you spend any more money.. Well have fun and if it aint any fun anymore you better quit.. Cya--- im waiitng to see what you could have built for $490??? if u incude the cost of nitrous then $900.. what could u have done better then what i had done, im open to suggestions. i just realized theres no sence in beating a dead horse. so i went out and got sumthing that responded much better and had a ton more potenetial then the 3.9 dak did, its a nice daily driver and a nice truck to take the gf out in, but for the weekends when im not doin anythin gthe would requre my gf and me not smellin like exhaust i would rather be in my new toy.
