Subject: FIPK alternatives. IP: Logged
Message: I really want to put a high flow induction on my 2001 dak, but don't have the cash for a FIPK. Are there any other brands that work as well without carrying a huge price tag? I would prefer buying one over making one, as I could see the dealer voiding my warrentee for using a home brew kit.

Message: Well you're not going to find a GOOD name brand intake for cheap unless it's used. I just got me a K&N FIPK for $70 shipped to me. Shop around, you'll find a good deal.
And if it comes down to it, you can make your own, and if you have to take it in to get serviced, you can just throw the stock intake back on, a little hassle, but not hard to do.

Message: So I found Intense Performance intakes which look pretty promising. I like the fact that they use cermaic coated steel tubing instead of plastic and that they cost a lot less. My question now is how much air flow do I realisticly need? I have a 3.9, and I'm willing to bet that the difference between a 7" and a 9" filter wouldn't be all that noticable. Also, anyone familiar with the intense performace filter types and their differences? They have three different models (power stack, big mouth, and quick cold), all with elevating prices. What's the difference? Would a 9" power stack do as well as a 7" big mouth?
