 Subject: anybody got a dak with over 250,000miles

I have a 87 with 230,869 miles on it I would like to haer from anybody that hasn't rebuilt their entire engine that has over 250,000. I hear that the 3.9L's are really 318's with two cylinders cut off is that true? Because I know how long a 318 can go!

My 87 dakota has 321,000 K
on it. I am being forced to sell because of emissions. Next county over does not require emission inspection.

yes, the 3.9 are basically just the chopped down 5.2,... and guess about the 4cyl. all the numbers match up. Steve

Are you guys saying that you have 200,000 some-odd kilometers or are you saying 200,000 some-odd miles. 200,000K miles is a hell of a lot of miles, but I ask because some here measure in kilometers.
200,000 km is about 125,000 miles; there is a bit of a difference.

mine has 220K miles, but is starting to have oil pressure issues so its my excuse to drop in either a 5.2 or a 5.9 :)

I am looking to buy an 02 Dakota with a 318
with 250,000 mls on it, the owner only want
1,500 for it. The truck had oil changes like
clock work, the only problem with it is that
it needs a transfercase. So i guess what I'm
asking is, does this truck have any life left
in it and does it sound like a fair deal. Any
intelligent input would be helpful.

If it has a 318 it is a transplanted engine. The last year for a 318 in a Dak was 99. if it is a transplant make sure the swap was done properly. If it wasn't you could have issues.
