Depending on how many miles you have on your
truck, if you have like 100 150,000 I would
replace the chain and add the tensioner that
mopar makes for this problem

I know I bought 3 new daks in the last 10 years
and after just 10,000 miles they all developed
the chain noise.

The factory chains I have seen go out anywhere
from 150 to 250,000 miles without doing anything
to them.

If you have 50 to 100,000 you can probably just
get away with installing the tensioner the new
chain would be your choice but I would replace
it while I have it apart

I have a cloyes dobble roller in my stroker with
just about 10,000 miles on it no noise yet but I
will probably get it sooner or later even with
that chain. and I am sure you will ask yes you
can use the tensioner with the doubble roller
but for a stock motor its not nessasary to go
with the doubble roller the stock chains hold
up very well.

Also any time you replace a chain and or install
the tensioner you need to check your injector
sync. either do it yourself or find a shop with
a good scan tool that can set it for you.

Here you can find all the part #'s and what you
need to do

You can find a lot of info for almost everything

Directv working fine today just was the snow storm

Channel 325 on sat and sunday from 10 to 1 have
some very good car and truck shows.

Channel 607 speed channel also has some good shows
its about all I watch on tv these days I just cant
get into some of the junk they have on tv these
days would just rather go in my garage and find
something to play with. I still have to finish
putting togather my 400 b block for the 63
convertable.

The lower end is done still need to install the
cam and intake than its done.

268 284 cam, mopar alm 4 bl not the M1, I also
have a forged 383 crank and rods in there with a
set of KB 240 pistons full floating pins, it
should run strong 3.23 gears behind it with a 727
auto

1963 polara convertable its a nice summer car if
I ever get it done, Black with a white top.

Yeah, 325 (old TNN) is now Spike TV, "the only network for men" .lol
They have a kik ass car show lineup Sat&Sun. Lucky for me I have DTV Tivo and I just set em to get all those shows as I work most the weekend through.

Good luck on your old school projects. I've had an all original 73 340 Challenger for 12+ years now, every once in a while I get an itch and I rebuild something else on it but its damn hard to do enough to keep up with father time.
I did a lot of BB Mopar stuff back in the mid to late 80's, I do miss that BB tq.
Funny....Greg thinks he will be able to keep all that tq in check in his Dak. lol

I commend ya on your patience and dealing with repetitive questions, your a better man then I.

I am also running a +3 sync it seams to run the
best if I go more it gets doggie

On a stock cam the intake opens at 8 after a 0
would pulse the injectors at 14.7 after a + 3
they pulse around 10 11 2 to 3 degrees after they
start to open,

My therory is that pulseing 2 degrees after the
valves are open grabs more fuel from the initial
low presure area in the cyl drawing the fuel in
faster

There are many differant therorys on this whos
right I don't know but + 3 works good for me

LOL!!!

from what i have read, the 906's flow just a little more beyond .500 valve lift but the 452's actually flow just a little bit more at .500

I bought some fancy springs for them (and no not from edelbrock) and plan on doing a 3 angle valve job.

Like i have said, this is the test motor. Once i get it running in the dak, let me figure out how it responds to new found torque and then i'll add from there.

Hey larry! I have a 1990 3.9L ex-cab 2WD Dakota. There is a post on here from david Cobourn re perf parts for sale. Here is his list:

Mopar prformance four barrel intake 150.00
Harland sharp rocker assembly 1.7 175.00
New mopar performance cam and lifters 85.00

Heads match ported, bowl work 1.88 and 1.60 stainless valves , springs, retainers, keepers 450.00 perfect conditon no cracks

Crome valve covers 50.00
Manton pushrods for the above combination 60.00

Will these work for my Dakota? What else will I need to do to my truck to make this work? I am only looking for a litle more HP for when I tow a 1200 1b Boler/Trillium trailer. What's aresonable price for all these things as he wants to sell them as a pkg. Thanks for your knowledge & patience with answering questions from inexperienced guys like myself.
