Message: Ditto!!! This is my next big project. Did you go from a 42RH to a 46RH or did you keep the 42RH? I found a kit that supposedly enabled the reconfiguration from 3.9L hardware to 5.9L hardware but I'm really interested in problems associated with the conversion or "lessons Learned" type experiences.

Message: The 360 was installed with the V6 trans just the
flex plate was changed,
A 95 360 mopar performance computer was used with
a 95 wire harness
Every thing just bolted right up, the 3.9 5.2 and
360 5.9 all will bolt right in place of each other
there is nothing else needed to swap
The map sensor was replaced and after getting
some miles on it the mid range stumble problem
disipeared

Message: Thanks for posting. I'm going to be doing this swap too, eventually ($$$ keep holding me back). So, you believe the tranny will hold up? I plan to swap that too eventually. I bought a mopar torque converter as well. I've also been told that I should swap the rad.
Right now, I am going to install the windage tray, then get at the cam, roller timing chain, water pump. I have new lifters, just need to get pushrods. Heads are off being rebuilt with 1.6 comp cams rockers. This is taking a while, but I think it will be worth it...

Message: The trannies will hold up but I would recomend a
TransGo or Mopar shift kit to firm up the shifts
and reduce heat also a cooler is a good idea.
What kills the trannies is heat if you control the
heat they hold up fine on a V8.
My stroker is putting more HP through than the 360
and with almost 90,000 miles on the trans still
no probs, I do have a shift kit with a 1600 stall
converter

Message: You have a stroked V6? Interesting, never talked to anyone with one before. I know of some stroker kits for the sixer that just came on the market last year, but they are really pricey. It's good to hear that your tranny is holding up (42RE?) since that is a swap that I would like to put off as long as possible. A shift kit is in the plans. Did you have to put in a custom torque converter for the 360 swap? I talked to Wayne at APS precision, they make one that will mate up my existing tranny to the 360, but again, it is pricey. I have a mopar torque converter, but I don't think it is compatible with my 42RE.

Just completed the v6/auto to 318/5speed swap in a friends 1997 dak last weekend. It was really easy to you the existing v6 wiring, not really woth the couple 100 for a v8 harness. Some parts of the harness could use to be lengthend but I got away with out it. I'll have some pics here soon to post on dto.

Message: No by changing the flex plate you can use the
same V6 torque converter. That is what was done
on this swap.
The only real diff in the wire harness is the 2
missing injector plugs that just like dodgeboy
said are fairly easy to add to the V6 harness
and you save more like $300 they wanted for a
V8 harness. That is also what was done on this
swap, when I mentioned 95 harness it was because
the 360 was a 99 and the #7 and #8 injector wires
were just added to the exsisting harness
You must remember this was a 4X4 and the engine
is off set to the right about 2 inches in these
trucks, on a 2 wheel the are in the center and
yes you can also bolt up a V6 5 speed right to
a 318 or 360 by using the V6 flywheel
The swaps are a lot easyer than most people think
everything is vertualy the same V6 318 360
Arley will also be adding the M1 intake in the
future just wanted to work out any bugs first
and the only one found was the mid range stuble
that is almost completly gone after putting
some miles on it and giving the comp a chance to
learn, Oh there was a new map sensor put on also

Message: Lesley,
you will not need a new Radiator... you have the same one as the V8's.
Larry,
I am curious as how the V6 torque converter and flexplate are doing. Arent the 360's externally balanced and the 3.9/5.2 internally? and if you switched torque converters, did the V6 one get balanced?

I know the older 360's you needed to add the bal
weights or they would shake at idle like a miss
if you used a 318 trans behind a 360 or vise versa
the 360 converter having the weights and the 318
did not
not sure on the newer ones but Arley says it
idles pefict, I think they changed that on the
newer motors, but no complaint of a rough idle,
I also wondered about that, but no shake

Message: For your 99 any 318 360 96 or newer will work
non EGR manifold
The flex plate from the V6 was used V6 converter
and trans.
You need a wire diagram to see which pins to add
the wires for #7 & #8 injectors and the V8 comp
of course
Just change the flex plate motor mounts and bolt
the sucker in
