Gas mileage suddenly drops
Truck doesn't run near as good

...there's more, but I'm too tired to recall them. The big one is the horrible gas mileage.

isn't there a test that can be done on these sensors to tell if they are working correctly?

Kinda like the tps test? If there is, i would rather check it before i buy a new one.

You can use a scanner to monitor the voltage they
send to the comp or even tap the wire and read
it with a digital voltmeter

On your 2 O2 system the upstream first one before
the cat does all the work and adjusts your air/fuel

The second downstream basicly tells the comp that
the converter is working
(MIL) malfunction indicator light

I would just replace the upstream and not worrie
about the downstream one unless it starts triping
your mil light

24 Throttle position sensor

You would also get this code if for any reason the
key was turned on with the sensor disconected
