Subject: 87 3.9 runs ruff

Message:
I have an 87 dakota with a 3.9 ltr. auto . When the truck is warm it runs great , but if it is cold and damp it stumbles real bad . I have rebuilt the carb installed new wires plugs cap and rotor as well as plugs .It has a new fuel filter and pump. I was told the carb was freezing up but I even wrapped the bottom of the carb with insulation. I just changed the ox sensor and I am at a loss . Any ideas ?

I have an 87 that does almost the same thing but it doesn't run ruff it just sounds like the water pump is running fast (it makes a loud blowing sound)but when it gets warm it runs regular. I have had the new water pump for 30,783 miles.

Replaced egr checked hoses upgraded to hotter plugs still running terrible when wet and cold . Could it be a timeing advancement via the computer to the distributor and the carb.

Could be a lot of things

carbon traked cap
bad plugs
bad wires
bad coil
bad sensor
bad O2
low fuel presure during cold start

You just need to track it down
