Subject: Engine only?? IP: Logged
Message: After doing a lot of looking around at possible mods to do to my truck, one thing hit me. All the mods I see are to boost engine power and appearence. I have yet to see people beef up components like the brake system and clutch. Are the stock components on these truck just so good that they don't need aftermarket replacments?

Most guys will go to the centerforce clutch setup
but the stock unit is relatively strong.
Its always nice to upgrade your brakes if you
drive like a nut. Drilled and slotted rotors, 4
wheel disk on the older trucks and over size
I also went to 3.91 gears on my truck
Most people just seam to be looking for cheap ways
to improve performance and gas mileage and just
get there trucks to run good
Hell I drove 50 miles today just to get a pack of
smokes, and drive my Dak any time I have an excuse
to drive it.
I got my 90 Dak back this weekend that I let a guy
use for the last 2 months,
He had to wait for his insurance to pay him for
his truck that was never recovered and even with
all the miles he wants to buy this old dak from
me says it runs so nice and gets 20 mpg
1990 4X4 3.9 with 257,000 miles now he put 7000
miles on it, I paid $300 for it perfect body but
burns a little oil. I am going to put a 92 V6
I have with wire harness and the 4.0 stroker in
this truck as soon as I get around to it. Stock
computer with an SMT6 I will be testing where I
can have totel control over the fuel and timing
curves via my laptop
I plan on a collection of Daks 90 95 00 will be my next
one to look for.
I just get so much enjoyment out of playing with
these trucks I can't stop and my old lady always
yells at me about it but it does no good at all says
there is no hope for me and I will never grow up.
I just tell her isn't that what you love about me
so much, Im a certifiable nut case when it comes
to my cars and trucks
