98 DAKOTA 3.9l V6 SPEDOMETER STAYES AT 0 UNTIL I HIT ABOUT 30 MPH THEN WILL JUMP TO WHERE IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE. ABS LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT THE SAME TIME THAT SPEDO PROBLEM STARTED. DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS ABS CONTROLLER WHICH WAS REPLACED BUT DID NOT FIX PROBLEM ANY IDEAS?

it probably is the speed sensor in your diff. it measures your speed and is used for the abs...if it were to malfunction it would mess with the speedo and set the abs off..try scanning your computer....that will give you a little better of an idea.

hey it's probably your speed sensor. Costs 35 bucks at the dealer, couldn't find the right part anywhere else drops in in 5 mins into rear diff. Scan won't show you anything and supposedly using obdIII computer doesn't show the problem either though I'm in discussion with the shop that checked mine and said that I needed a new abs computer for 400 bucks. Give em an inch they'll take a mile hope this helps

I have a 1992 Dodge D150 and my distance sensor will go out about every 1.5 years. I am not sure if this is the same setup as the Dakota. Has anybody else had this problem?
