I just installed a Dynomax 17748 muffler on my 98 cc. I looked on the muffler before I installed for directional arrows or something indicationg which way the air (exhaust) flow should be. There was nothing indicating that. Does it really matter which way the exhaust flows through one of those? I have notice a smell too. One like newness being burnt off. Is that normal? The only thing on the muffler I noticed was two dimples on one end of the muffler, and one dimple on the other. Does that mean anything? Any answers or comments are greatly appreciated. Sounds good though!!

the smell is normal, fiberglass expanding and all that happy stuff. Put a dynomax on my dad's Ram and it had the same smell, wore off pretty quick

Mine has that smell too. Kinda like an egg smell--or a fart. Thing is, it's been on my truck for a few months. Has anybody else experienced this ???

Does anyone have any actual sound recordings of the Super Turbo on the V6's?

I'm extremely happy with the sound. It's got a nice little rumble at idle and low RPMs. Up high, it just kinda sounds normal. Not near as loud as a flowmaster in my opinion. Except for the smell, it's the best muffler I've had on it.

The rotten egg smell is probably your catalytic converter. A new muffler wouldn't smell for more than a few days before wearing off.

Well, I thought about that too, but my truck only has 12,000 miles on it. Could it have gone bad that fast ?? The only things I have done to it are intake, V8 throttle body, and the muffler. Could any of those have affected the cat ??

Rotten egg smells are usually associated with
running rich fuel mixtures and the reaction with the catalytic converters.drive behind a Generic
Motors product and you'll find out.
