Message:
My friend has an old 1969 stock Chevy C10 with the carbed 350 and thinks he can take my 1993 3.9L V6 magnum with 3.55grs!! I have a K&N FIPK and Dynomax muffler and too many other new parts that im not gonna begin to mention.

I found this rather funny how he thinks he could take my a$$. I have another friend who has a newer chevy with the 350 vortech and i defenitely wouldnt consider him. What do u guys think?

Your so full of Sh$t. A Magnum V6 can take an old 350 carb thats weights Tons more then these Dakotas do!! The power to weight ratio is way off balanced with the older 350. Not to mention I got the K&N intake and high flow muffler. Now Of coarse i know the newer 350 vortecs could take me in an instant. But as for John Doe finish up on your unintellectual speeches and get your Dumpy A$$ off this site and on a Cheby site if you think there so good.

then why did you ask if you already know the answer. Let me tell you where I am coming from. most of the people I kick it with are running carbed chevys. YOU WILL NOT WIN. a K&N fipk is like 10 horse which comes out to about 2 at the wheels. your dyno max is a waste get a flowmaster. He has 2 more cylinders then you. "there is no replacement for good ol' displacement" you drive a v6 dakota as do I so I know for a fact that you will lose your ass on this one. I'm sure next you will tell me you can take an old big block nova too right? go home its past your bed time

I don't know about this one, but if I had to choose, I would pick the c10. The reason is that I have a 92 dak automatic and your mods plus many more, and I didn't improve at the quarter mile at all over stock, so I know about how they run. You can try, but he'll probably beat you.

Yeah he may be able to stay with me the first leg of the race but when my RPM's start soarin and the K&N intake gets a roarin hes not gonna stand a chance. These Dakotas, with a few mods (K&N & Dynomax), are very fast @ redline. I can tell you the truth. They dont have much get up and go compared to some others but once you get up high in the RPM range then you will see some speed. GO home, The Dynomax isn't any worse then the flowmaster and in some cases better to others. Its all a matter or opinion.

lol you make me laugh. I would leave your dakota in your garage if you think you can handle a 350, hope you atleast have a supercharger under your hood to even think about taking your dakota out to race.

And just cause you have a K&N air filter doesnt mean squat, you and 10million other people have it. And having an exhaust that sounds like an import racer doesnt make you fast either. If you wanted a hot rod with a throaty exhaust you should have saved your money and bought a 67 Chevelle.

But no, you can't handle the C10. Just leave your truck int he garage.

Whats with all the 350 chebbie lovers?
The 350 power ratings took a dump in the 70's
I mean come on, 180hp and 225 torque out of 5.7l of displacement(you car geeks can look that one up, trust me)...any Ford, Lada, Kia ect. can easily beat that kind power ratio nowadays. Ive beaten 350 half ton chebbies a 350 Impala, 318 ram's and plenty of 305's so don't think just cause it has a v-8 it will take you... Race it and find out...Oh and by the way all you 350 chebbie lovers there is a replacement for displacement....it's called Modern Technology....
They don't build em' like they used to......Thank God..........

sorry 2muchhype, but adding o2 sensors under my hood isn't what i call improvments to racing or power technology.

Old pure unaffected by electronics everyday american muscles, is alot better than wheezing leaking modern day electric muscle.

Just cause you can put a cold air intake, add some synthetic oil to your truck doesnt mean its going to out class an ancient engine with no eletronic restrictions.

2muchhype hit it dead on. There is no way an old 350 carb that puts out only 180hp and 225ft/lbs and weighs ALOT heavier and doesnt have any MODS at all..and..and I could go on and on for ever but I better be a baby and leave my truck in the garage for now as draugluin said.

I'd say the 350 would win hands down. 6 cyl is not gonna beat a 350 unless you've got somethin special under the hood. From my expierence an intake and exhaust are just small hp gains and you've probably got the cats on still, they're the real restrictors not the muffler, take em off and you'll notice a difference right away. Also, if you ask me, spark plug wires and chrome valvecovers aren't going to increase the hp.

Guys, I have an 02 Dak and a 73 350 C10.

The Chevy will absolutely smoke the Dodge. Plus, the front end parts and brakes last a lot longer on the Chevy.

I have a '71 Firebird with the 2bbl 350 which was only rated 165 HP @ 4000rpm (actually that figure is the 1972 "net" rating - the 1971 rating is "gross" HP, which for comparison purposes is useless), but torque is rated 280 @ 2400rpm. If I could clone myself I'm sure the 3200lb FireChicken would smoke my V6 Dak off the line. Now if the Dak could catch up it might stand a chance at the top end if not for the fact that aerodynamics would start to favor the FB on that end too.
Point is, some older 350's don't necessarily have alot of HP but they can still be big torque producers.

I dont get it? you come here and ask a question then when you dont hear the answer you want you cry and say your exhaust and k&n filter will make up for the two cylinders your a lacking on him. Modern technology will not beat old muscle. I am not supporting chevy. for the same price as it cost you to "mod" 10 horse out of your car today you can get 50-75 horse for a car of yesteryear

I call bullsh!t, a 69 350 motor is a lot different than a 71 350 motor, 69 probably made at least 300hp. I drive a V6 dakota, I know i wouldn't stand a chance, a 350 has torque to get it off the line, and horsepower to keep it screaming up to 5500, the only way you could have beat him was if he had too much power that he couldn't get any traction, and you, having the V6, couldn't even spin the damn tires. Your a fukcing idiot and a liar.
