I recently bought a 93 with 164000 on it. The truck runs great! Just needs the timing chain rattle gone. Having that done next week and while they are in there I'm gonna have a new water pump put in (might as well since the labor is free on it) I'm gonna baby this thing and hope for well over 200,000 --maybe 250,000 I wonder if anybody has ever put 300,000 on this motor without a rebuild.

Im about to hit 140k on my 92 auto. I hear a little chain rattle also but i dont think i will ever change it. I guess if it breaks i may try a 318 conversion, probly not, but i might buy a v8dak.

131000 miles the only repairs were replacing the Thermostat gasket under warranty and I had to replace the front shocks because the lower gromets were split. I love my Dak.

I have 115,400 miles on my 1996 sport club cab. Not trouble free, basic repairs were needed. Exhaust, water pump, radiator, brakes, tires, tune-ups, O2 sensors, I had the main wiring harness rewired! the Cat convertor went about 1 month ago. having the top end rebuilt in about 1 to 2 months depending what were I go to college. Might buy a new car to commute back and forth.

Problems with 01 Dakota Quad V6
IP: Logged

Message:
I have an 01 DAkota Quad with a V6 engine w/40K miles on it.

REcently the check engine light came on, a strange noise was coming from the engine, and it lost power in both low and high RPMs.

After a major tune up and new PCM instruction-set at the dealer, the car ran like new for about 30 miles and the same thing happened again.....any one have this problem???

I have a 98' 3.9 with 176,000 miles and it still runs like a new truck. Oil pressure is good and I get around 20MPH on the Hwy.
I put 120 to 250 miles a day on the truck and it has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned.

My '94 3.9L 2WD Dakota just hit 188,300 miles and it doesn't have a spot of rust on it. Nor does it eat oil. It runs great! I'm second owner in Mass., originally bought it in North Carolina.
