Subject: Tranny Shifting Problems IP: Logged
Message: I would like to know if anyone has had any problems with their v6 auto trannys shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear? Mine won't shift unless i let off the gas and Dodge is now saying after trying to fix it three times that this is normal. I think they are full of it but i would like others input or info if they have had similar problems and what was done about it.

Message: I havea 92 and i think there is a problem from the factory. Mine always shifts, but it seems it doesnt shift when its supposed to. It seems like the tranny and the throttle arent in sync. I can give it some gas and it will hold the gear, then i let off and wait and then it shifts. I changed tranny fluid recently and adjusted the bands according to Haynes. Also tried the TV cable, but not much difference. Maybe the TPS might have something to do with it. I bet it does, as soon as i get some time and a digital voltmeter Ill try it. It makes sense. The tranny isnt "at one" with the throttle position.
It also seems that every gear shifts differently. Mine holds first and third forever w/decent amount of throttle in, but the others seem to shift prematurely.

Message: i had that problem with my 96. i would have to let off the gas then hit it agian for it to shift.the problem was worn out seals in the tranny. so i rebuilt it. the seal dry out inside the tranny which you lose pressure and then there is not enough pressure to make it shift.

Message: To let everyone know out there with a V6, i just got mine back and they said that the V6 is undersized for the quad cab and that they have a national buyback program on these vehicles. They are addmitting there is a problem and nothing can be done about it. Hope this helps you.
