My 2002 3.9 dakota quad acts like it runs rich
It happens everyday it bogs down like a 2 cycle engine at wot at any throttle position i have it at and it gets sluggish during the bog down such as the mph needle barely moves same with the tach but it does progress just very slowly
When it doesnt bog it really moves what gives shouldnt it run good all the time since its all comp contolled?
Someone mentioned to me that maybe a smaller injector size would help or diff injector design
The injectors are red what size would that be?
I average at 12 mpg and even seen 8 mpg
I also replaced the o2 sensors
I can only find 2 o2 sensors and nothing else (the pre and post cat)i have looked up and down the whole thing cant find other 2 unless the dakota only has 2

i just changed a o2 sensor and i found 4 of them. one before mini cat converter and one just after. now that is also on both sides...driver side and passenger side. I find it quite expensive to change them, at least out here in edmonton the price is 220 bucks each!

smaller injectors won't help only hurt the top end performance, find a good driveability guy to take a look at it.

the thing is i have but i live in a small town and the only thing i can find is red neck shops
u know the kind that fix a rich/lean running problem by removing pluging or cutting a vacuum line
i might just have to go out of town then but any place would be about 2000 mile trip both ways to get a decent place

i read on another post about the fms injectors having 4 nozzles does anybody know if this would solve my problem or atleast make it tolerable (i know when i increased velocity through intake it helped it a little)

a clogged Cat also causes slugish engine response and performance. take a screwdriver, and place the flat end against the cat itself, and place your ear to the handle while the engine is running, and listen through the screwdriver to see if you hear rattling inside the cat, or listen to see if the exhaust is emitting smoothly over roughly.

Usually Cat's are always the problem with slugish performance, Emissions suck.
