Message: Almost forgot to add...as far as the temp goes some mfg say that min exhaust temp needs to be be 350 degrees..this is only the temp that the 02 starts to produce any kind of voltage on it's own. As the exhaust gets hotter the o2 sensor becomes more active and better able to sense oxygen changes.

Message: its wrong because it says low voltage = less oxygen... if i am not mistaken, that means rich
more oxygen would mean that it is running lean
thanx for the compliments... i am not try to stab at you. You were more right then i was!

Message: "An oxygen sensor senses the level of oxygen left in the exhaust. If there is alot of oxygen the sensor produces a very low voltage" ...that is what I originally wrote...which translates to high oxygen=low voltage. I had to go back and read it myself cause it get's a bit confusing besuase of the wording and the lengthy post. For what it's worth I didn't think that you were trying to take shots at me. I learn alot from boards like these and my recent interest in this board is cause I recently bought a 89 Dak that needed a little love and I needed a truck and was curious as to what people were doing with these. If I can learn from you and you can learn from me then this board has served it's purpose well.

Message: If you end up wanting to replace the cat, they're warranteed to 80,000 miles by law. I've had 2 replaced already, first at about 25-30,000 and the second at around 74,000. They dealer replaced both it and the downstream O2 sensor, no charge, both times.
