Message: I received word from my service provider that my 98 Dakota may have a cracked head. Cylinder #8 starts missing after a few thousand miles and I am losing coolant. I hear that this is a common problem for the magnum V8 engines. Is that true? Is there any acknowledgement from Dodge on this? will they help with costs? Problem started at 40K. Any other suggestions I can try before going to the expense? What about heads from other companies other than Mopar. Hate to replace the heads with new one that may have same problem anyway.

Message: Isn't powertrain warrenty 6 years/60k miles? If you are still under warrenty or have documentation that the problem began before it was out of warrenty they should cover it. Even if your out of warrenty you can try talking to your area rep and they will usually work something out (such as you pay labor, they pay parts).
