Subject: New Dynomax install IP: Logged
Message: I want to thank Larry and intense and the other guys for there advice on which muffler to buy for my 3.9.. I just had Dynomax super turbo #17748 put on my truck and I have only drove it 3 miles home from the shop but I can tell a diffrence in the sound of it already and I am looking forward to it burning out the packing to see if it gets even better..
I also wanted to say that the Dynomax hooked up perfectly with out any changes done to the exhaust pipes on the 2003 Dakota..
I guess the next thing to do on the truck will be window tint and throttle body replacement and then R/T wheels.. Thanks again Cya Slick

Message: I was always under the impression that the fiberglass packing burns up and the muffler is ruined much more quickly than just metal chamber mufflers. From these posts should I conclude the opposite? What is the real deal with glass packs vs. others?? I was lookin into getting the Dynomax until I knew it was fiberglass....

Message: Any chance you can post a sound clip? I'll probably be installing a #11748 soon.
As a side note why on the Dynomax website ( http://www.dynomax.com/trucks.stm/ Chrysler Applications (PDF)) do they suggest #17698 thats a 3" inlet/outlet for an '02 3.9?

That's because that ## is part of their catback system not a stock replacement muffler

Message: Hello guys sorry but I dont have the means to post a sound clip for you.. I will say this muffler is very mild untill you step on it then you can hear it even better, and then it is not that loud, since I am getting older I dont care to hear it all the time..
I think this muffler is a metal baffel muffler with some packing in it, I threw the box out so I cant read what might have been on it..
I would recomend it to anyone with a 3.9 because that stock one is just to quite.. My wifes new Durango has a better sounding stock exhaust then my Dakota did even tho that has a 318 in it.. Well I hope this helps.. Cya Slick
