If it gets real cold, it won't go into OD either, but it should go into third once it warms up a bit.

I had the same problem and I left it alone and one day it just gave out totally and just about left me stranded. It wouldn't pull any gears until it hit 3,400 rpm, then it jerked violently foreward! My advice to you is to make SURE you have enough fluid in it, and probably add some Lucas to it. It ended up costin me $530 to fully rebuild my AOD with a shift kit installed.
