I got beat really bad by a stock reg cab 93 4.9L F150. Does anyone know any info on them 4.9s What is the rated horsepower and torque.

I knew he would be faster but not like a car and 3/4 faster. I Know some of you think, well its a 4.9l but its a straight 6 and not a v8 so I was thinking maybe I could hang a little.

I think the 90s 4.9 (300 CI) six was rated at around 160 horsepower stock, but I'm not sure what the torque was. The inline six engine hits max horsepower and torque at lower RPMs than our V-6. My previous truck was a '78 F-100 with a carb. version of this engine. Totaled at 220,000 miles on the original engine, no rebuild, hopefully my 3.9 V6 will be as solid of an engine, sounds like from what I have heard on this forum it should be.

The 4.9L inline 6 Ford F-150 is a pretty strong truck...i read up on it once before and they compared it to a 5.0L V8 and it had a higher rating tourqe and hoarspower.

ive got a 1996 ford f-150 2wd with a 4.9l straight six in it and ive got 32x11.50 super swamper tsl/sx tires on the back and it will absoulutley burn them off. it has enough power for anyone ive pulled people out of mud holes and ive also pulled trees out of the ground with it. it is one tough motor but im also looking for an v8 to drop down in it.

The power must have been a lot lower in the 80's. I beat my friends 84 straight six f-150 in a 93 2.5L auto Dodge Shadow.

the ford inline 6 is a torque monster, its retarded how much they pull. I work at the airport here in detroit and a lot of the tugs and beltloaders use the ford inline 6. that should tell you somethin..
