Message: I believe O2 sensors can cause your gas mileage to go to 5h1t. You might wanna see if one of them is bad.

Message: Joe
I have a 00 dakota 3.9 and I normally get 15 MPG in city. try a K&N drop in, a tonneau cover, and a 180 stat. I bought a Stant stat from Advance Auto..works fine. The o2 sensors should make a check engine light come on..but not always, you can take it to a tune up shop and hook it up to a real time scanner so that all voltages can be read and compared to "norms" and maybe identify any abnormalities. I personally have found adding a bottle of chevrons techron fuel system cleaner with every 4th tank helps...use good brand of gas too tho, not just the cheapest stuff you can find. if low mileage truck, consider using a full synthetic oil in the engine..every little bit of friction reduction helps. Good Luck on the Mileage search!

Message: it does sound like your O2sensor is bad. GB2000 is right on. if you turn the key from OFF to ON three times(leave ON )(do not start it) the codes will flash on your odmeter display. something like P1208 and so on, when it's done it will display Pdone.it's done. or go to your local Auto Zone and they will be happy to get the codes & tell you what's wrong.
