Subject: Adding a fifth fuel injector IP: Logged
Message: Ok Ok, I know you all like the idea of adding Ford injectors on your trucks to get more fuel right? Well there are a couplle of reasons why I do not like that idea: One reason is the VERY bad fuel mileage, next is that it cost alot, and finally, I Don't wank Ford parts on my truck, so heres my solution.
I know our trucks aren't turbo, but adding an extra injector into the intake tube would do the trick. Not a pulsing injector, but a on/off injector from a SAAB. It wouldnt be on all the time, but with a WOT switch, that would do what we want it to do. I think its a good idea, so please don't flame me untill you have read these two websites:

Message: This is not a flame but you might want to know that the injectors on your truck are probably manufactured by Bosch and may have come off the same assembly line as the "ford" injectors. Early magnum motors used these and if not them they are Siemens injectors, and the same line there produces ford injectors also but there is a key difference. The ford spec. Bosch injectors are a 4 hole proprietary design which should atomize the fuel better all other things being equal. A word of caution on using a cold start injector(Bosch again) on the magnum motors. These intakes are a dry intake design, not designed to flow fuel. When you look into the manifold you see the bottom of the intake and no runners. I'm sure some fuel will be drawn in by engine vacuum, but I think it will also puddle on the intake floor and this could be disastrous if the pan gasket is leaking. Remember that those people using a wet nitrous system only add fuel when on boost and there could be some mixture problems from a single fuel source. If you really want more fuel you can remove your fuel pressure regulator(didn't the 93's have the fuel return on the rail?) and SLIGHTLY compress the can squarely with a socket and increase pressure. Be careful you are in uncharted territory and it is easy to mess up , maybe start with a salvage yard part so you have a backup. Higher fuel pressure will shorten up injector on time as compensated by the computer until WOT, then watch for fouling plugs!

Message: Interesting reading....
With the Intake I Modified (Butchered) I'm thinkin I'm gonna have a problem with Too Much Air. A 7th Injector mounted in the top center should give me the extra fuel I need. Jeesh I'm skeered to see what my fuel mileage will be.
Thx 4 the Tip,
Shank

shouldnt you already have a fifth injector? and sixth?
the turbo guys at sdml use to do that all the time... add the injector right after the intercooler on their turbo shelbys

Message: No, I have the V6, I just screwed up. I meant to put seventh. How do the Ford injectors increses gas mileage? I think that a extra injector only at WOT would make things better with my Homebrew CAI.

Message: Unless you are boosted... it would be kinda a waste. The stock injectors keep you plenty rich. At least mine was running just a little rich on my dyno's i had done
