Subject: AC Defrost Problems IP: Logged
Message: 94 Dakota Sport Auto.
I am having problems when I turn on the AC or defrost. The compressor keeps kicking on and off every 30 seconds or so. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Nordy

Message: Yup. Your probably still running R12 also. Need to do a R134 Conversion. Have the system Vacuumed and tested. Recharged with proper Oil & Refridgerant. Probably around $400.
Good Luck,

Message: Its a R134a system. Thanks for the info.
I just bought it and the truck has 160,000 miles on it. I could just need the charging.

Message: Is it cooling ok? If it is then don't worry about it. It is normal for it to cycle on and off. The only compressors that don't cycle are GM style variable displacement compressors.
