I have a 2001 Dakota Sport 3.9 2wd with a stage 2 jet chip, dual out the side gibson exaust and a intense performance air intake and i SMOKE extremmes ALL THE TIME. whats the deal dont they have any racing development? c'mon i need some competition for mini and midsize trucks.

my 2000 Sport would probably beat my friend's older s-10...like a '91, no extreme, but it's got the 4.3. S-10s are just slow, what can i say? ;) He also made teh mistake of callin my dak a tin can:(

Hay my friend has a Extrem and We raced one time on a abondond rode and at take we were right next to eachother then i got him, but he wasnt that far behind,he has a 4.3. He got mad at his truck that night, I told him what he should of got(DAKOTA!!!)I was stock at the time, he had air intake.

Either the people you are racing can't drive or don't know what size motor they have.
If they have done any mods they will spank you, ortherwise it is a good race. I know a guy with a 4.3L with exhaust, intake, and pulleys that is running 15s.

I have had mine fun with a S-10 Xtream. I was coming back from the track with my friend, and we were on a two lane stretch. Of couse this road is way out in the bonies. But any ways, i got next to him and waved him down. At the time we were doing about 60 mph. I did a 3,2,1, count down and i hit it. I left his A$$ from the start. We took it up to about 115 and shut it down. We pulled over and talked. He was so pist. I just laughted. I LOVE having fun with those S-10's. Big Ben

Yes, but would a stock 3.9 beat a 4.3?? From my experience, i doubt it........my friend's S-10 destroys my dakota every time.......

Yes when my truck was stock (2001 dodge dakota sport cc 2wd) i raced a chevy s-10 extremme with a 4.3 extended cab and beat it. i didnt smoke it but it we went to about 50 mph i was ahead the whole time.
S-10'S BLOW!!!!

I HAVE 2001 WITH 3:55 GEARS AND THE 4.3 TOOK ME.
BUT IHAVE 16INCH INSTEAD OF 15INCH RIMS
HE HAD A K&N I WAS STOCK.HE ONLY BEAT ME BY MAYBE 3FEET

A 4.3 S10 is way faster than a 3.9 DAk!!! A better match for a 4.3 is a V8 DAK!!!!! Its true, stock V6 Daks run 17.1 or so while our 4.3 S10s run 15.8-16.3 stock.

i know u guys hate 0-60s, but someone i know has a 94 s10 with k&n and flowmaster says his 0-60 is between 6-7 seconds I know 3.9 daks arent that fast and how does a heavier car with less torque(225 vs 250), hp(175 vs 190) and displacement(3.9 vs 4.3) beat a lighter one??
It doesnt add up. personally I think V6 daks just look better. unless its all gear ratio or that guy is Full of $hit, i dunno

It is possible to beat a 4.3L s10 dependig on your driving and his. A 2.2L is no challenge at all. 0-60 doesnt really give that accurate of a perofrmance gage as two cars with the same 0-60 can run to completely different times at the track. 0-60 is only good for the street or stop-light to stoplight races, if there. Racing is very driver dependent especially with a 5-speed. Get a guy who doesnt know his motor or how to drive and you can beat him in just about anything.

if the s10 is so fast as in 6-7 seconds..how come a spanked one with a 4.3 in town..my truck is stock..see..the chevy extreme...what chevy left out is the last word..it's really (chevy extreme piece sh*t)

Trust me, my nemesis is a bone stock Xtreme, 4.3L, and we haven't done nothing off the line, but rolling at 30, 50 and 60 km/h, he takes it everytime... At the time mine was bone stock as well... with my current mods, I'm not that confident I can make it a run, but we'll see in a month when the weather warms a bit.

Here's a little hands on info, My roommate has a 89 S-10 4.3L 4x4 Ext. cab with an exhaust mod. I can spank him every time; even though he is rated at 160HP and 230TQ at lower rpms. I also have a friend who has a 91 S-10 Blazer 4.3L 4x4 2 door also rated the same, both have TBI models. They can spin thier tires from a start all day long, but when it comes to racing they can't compete with my bone-stock 93 3.9L 4x4 Ext. Cab LE; mine is rated for 180HP/4800 rpm and 225 ft-lb/3200 rpm so I can't spin my tires from a start unless I am power braking. Even with my slower start I dont loose much and blast by them both when I get out of that typical 3.9L off the line hesitation. All in all I feel I got a solid V-6 with mine bought it brand new in 93 with the costomary idle noise and studder and also I was blessed with defective primer so I need a new paint job so if you guys have any suggestions to make my Dakota get a double take drop me a line I would be much appreciated.

There is no doubt in my mind that 4.3 is supreme however the fact you guys are talking about the extreme vs the dak doesn't matter all an extrememe is a s10 with body kit and rims basicaly no engine difference that i'm aware of. The whole phsyical aspects of a dak beatin a s10 is imposible. But we'll let you think you can beat us any day b/c everyone knows the truth :-D

My firends 4 banger beat me! he has an intake, exhaust, high flow cat, and something with the computer can't remember what right now.
My truck itsn't all that slow... so...
we were side by side all the way down, then he pulled a head right around 65 or 70 mph
(it was a just a back road we were doing this on)

I own both a 3.9 dak and a 4.3 S10.
My dak is m workhorse and carry all with an 8 foot bed, very strong with the 3.92 rear end.
My S10 4.3 5-speed is my play toy. It doesnt count as a truck. It is MUCH faster than any 3.9 that I have ever come across, including my own.
And did I mention the S-10 has 220,xxx miles on it?!
I will never get rid of my dakota because it is a great truck with much more room than any s-10.
But if you guys are comparing drag #'s, my old pos paint chippin bent frame s10 pulls 14-15 sec quarter miles.

i Hate to say it but a a newer 4.3 that would be in an extreme would prolly kick the sh*t of ouit of a 3.9 but i have raced an older 4.3 jimmy with like 150,000 miles and it was still kinda close...

Yeaaaaa right, I have a 1999 chevy extreme and I have smoked so make of those pos 3.9s with my all stock truck, thats why there is an old saying....Buy a Dodge, buy the best, drive a mile walk the rest. plus thats why the chevys cost more

wtf can you people with 3.9's race? i dont think so. of course there no way you can beat a 96-03 4.3 s-10. they out hp us and for the most part they weigh less then us. but those of us with the magnium motors should be able to take 90-95 s-10's and anything before with a 4.3. they only make 160 hp. what are you 5 speed daks launching at? put alittle wider of a tire on the truck and launch where we make our peak tq. and make sure to shift at where we make the peak hp to keep it in the range.. lol an better cut a better light. never go from a roll s-10's are more aerodynamic and make much more tq then us. just try to beat them on driver error. and monkey..how did you lose to a 4 banger s-10?? wtf did you stall or give him a 7 car head start? maybe both? intake and relocating the ait are not that big of mods you prob only gained 3 hp from the 2 of them and the plugs just make it so the truck runs smoother. do some real mods then go out and play.
