I got a 95 blazer stock when ever I come across some dakota new or old they never want to race I raced 2 out of like 20 they dont want to race me and by the way I beat them both time no prob from my experice 4.3 lot stronger than 3.9, spring is when I get my supercharger then I am going after mustanges

i agree. yeah the 2.8 v6 sucked but as for the 4.3 no v6 can beat it, reliability and all. mod up a 3.9 and get beat by a stock 4.3 i dare you. this is a serious question not dissing on dodges at all. are 3.9v6s in the 11sec 1/4 miles yet

hey i just turned 16 and my grandma bought me a 98 dodge dakota slt v6 perfect condition and my friend has a 2000 cevy s10 extreme and i was wondering if my truck could hold up in a race against it?

what motor is in the extreme justin? the s10's would pull ahead of the daks but who knows u may get lucky.... u wont be behind him by much more then a car or so..also is urs a 4x4 or 2wd and is his auto and is urs auto? is his extended cab and is urs?

Only lost to one extreme so far out of 7 and he had a supercharger...put a few sandbags in back..get a nice 3k rpm launch and u do very nicely against the extremes.

In my old 1992 dakota 3.9 with a five speed, There was absolutely NO 4.3 or much else that could keep up with that little motor. 1992 was an awesome year for the 3.9 and the 5.2. I had a flowmaster muffler with a low restriction converter and a cold air intake and thats it. I also beat my roomates 350 Cutlass.

OK here are the facts! I have a 3.9 v-6 dodge dakota sport and it will whip and chevy extreme any day....i will put money on it. well i do have strait exhaust, a jet computer chip, a half inch helo tower, K&N, and a super charger! not to mention a whole body kit for looks and mirror tint,and a racing chrome grill and tons of extra stuff, SO WHEN YOU CHEVY GUYS PULL UP TO ME AND WANT TO RACE A REAL TRUCK WITH SOME BIG BALLS WITH A PIECE OF CRAP CHEVY WITH A BODY KIT. COME FIND ME. I AM NOT HARD TO FIND. I AM THE DODGE LEAVING ALL YOU GUYS IN THE DUST. so anybody want to make a run, or has something to say email me at jeleon@usieagles.org

For those of you who think the Extreme is baby jesus or something....WRONG! Sure the 3.9 is not the best in the world, I own one, I know. But the 4.3 is no great thing in itself. Always known to be a piece of horsesh*t if you ask me. Famous for leaking oil no matter how old, blowing front main seals after 60000, and who knows what else. Don't try to bullsh*T me on these things as I have owned both and have much experience with them, as I am also a mechanic. So all of you can shut the f*ck up.

For those out there who are hating on the 4.3 vortec engines, think of some things for a second. Out of the box, the 4.3 262 cubic inch v6 from '96 and up, gm will pretty much beat the crap out of a 3.9. It has more horses, more torque. Also i do beleieve that the 4.3's are the only engine in the WORLD that can be bored over 120 thousandths, and handle it with no prob. The old vin code "x" 4.3, and pre-1994 v-6's are dogs, that i will agree with. But, there is no way that a stock dak can keep up with a stock s-10, extreme or not. Btw, the extreme model has nothing to do with the engine, tranny, drivetrain, or rearend, so if your gonna hate on the extremes, get ur crap right.Also, ANY engine, no matter how old will leak and have problems, if it has been beatin, but you should know that, MR. ASE certified. If youd like a real s-10, or 2 to be exact, to "race", not a prob. Bring it. Starting with Number one: 1997 Chevy S-10ss. 4.3 VORTEC H.O. #12 of 1240. You want to list engine mods? ok. List some that are NOT bolt ons. Comp cam, roller rocker, and lifters, heads shaved 10 thousandths, intake polished and ported, pistons polished, FULL true dual exhaust from the manifolds back, not some bolt on muffler from auto zone. Oversized throttle body, shaved throttle body flap, temp sensor moved, granatelli mass air flow, screen removed, k&N filter, 160 degree thermo, 3 core fluidyne radiator, B&M tranny cooler,B&M shift kit, B&M trick shift fluid, FUlly synthetic oils, ecm upgrade, jet stage 2 chip, o2 simulators, and thats it for now. For number 2: 1992 GMC Syclone. Now that right there, beats porches completely stock, so im not gonna even waste my time telling you what i have. Can't touch this. Eat your words please, and you are right for once, the 4.3's arent baby jesus, they are GOD.

i have a 98 dodge dakota 3.9l v6 magnum and i just reciently put a k&n cold air intake and a 50 series flowmaster on it and my friend has a 4.3l extreme and i asked him if he wanted to race and everytime we race i leave hime behind me before i get to 75mph

Jesus, I dont see why people can't just get along. When I race its for the thrill of racing, I don't do it to make somebody else feel bad, if i win, thats great , if not *shrug* and try better next time right? Personally in my experience with my grandpa's s-dime and my neibhors s-dime they are good I'll give 'em that, but I like the way my Dak looks any day.

RaIphie: This sucks I own a 4.3l s10 manual trans my neighbor has a 98 3.9l magnum auto and he told me that all he has in it is a ractive cold air intake and a flowmaster I asked him if he wanted to race ok so we met somewhere and we race even from off the line he was ahead and during the race he ended up beating me by 4 car lengths I think he has something in it that hes not telling me and what should i buy to out run him please let me know

they are friggin trucks not race cars.
i own a 98 rc auto 3.9,and a 2000 blazer 4.3 4x4,and i can tell you the blazer will smoke my dak.
dont care the wife drives the blazer and i drive the dak,blazer gets 17 mpg my dak gets 22.
my last blazer 94 4x4 with a 4.3 had 147000 problems i had were
phlenum gasket went bad
as did the fuel injection
alt
a/c
heater core
all after about 110000 miles
my last dak 92 problems
tranny at 60000
rearend 2 times(bad shims)
as you can see i dont care i got me a new dak and the wife a new blazer.
am happy with both and would buy both again.
also had a 93 ford ranger 4cyl 5 speed (total junk)and got 23 mpg with that.very slow.
as for the s-10 extreams i think if your 17 they may look cool but if your over 21 they do look stupid.
i use my truck as a truck not to pound the ground,if i was still into that i would buy a 70 hemi cuda.

you little idiot, my next door neigbor tried to bore his 4.3 out to .090 over and broke into his water jacket, bore it to .120 no way. and as far as "head shaved .010" no way will that give a noticable power boost. all chevy heads warp that much or more in the course of 50,000 miles when checked off the block, its just the nature of cast iron. polished pistons = waste of money with no performance gain. wtf is a shaved throttle body flap? granitelli makes ford performance not chevy performance parts. I have a 97 Porsche (thats the way to spell it moron) that will eat your Syclone for lunch breakfast and dinner, It is stock. that is just on the drag track, wanna try me on a road course??
