Subject: Timing Mod? IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I've went to the krcperformance site and read the directions on how to do the timing advance mod, but I have a few questions before I attempt it. First off, I have a 92 3.9 and didn't know for sure if that mod is only for 2000 and up or not. The way they word it is funny. Second, is this mod worth it? I don't know just how many people have done this, but I would like to know the pros and cons of this.
Any knowledgeable replies welcome.

Message: Yes it will work on your 92
What it does is advance your base timing giving
you about 3 degrees more across the entire rpm
band.
More lowend power and better gas milage is what
you will notice more than anything.
I have done it to many trucks even before KRC
put it on there website, It helps

Message: So all you have to do is slot the holes in the sensor 3/8 inch and slide it to the passenger side as far as you can? Is this right?

Message: It might ping with the mopar pcm not on a stocker
Be sure you pull out the rubber gromit in the hole
so the sensor will move
3/8 is just a guess go as far as you can

Message: NOSDART68,
Hey man. I've done that too. I also did it before I saw it on krcperformance. When the mags came out I read everything I could on how they work. I did it out of old school thinking. The first time I moved it towards the drivers side not thinking about which way everything was spinning. Duh. I moved it back the way I should. Works great. Been driving with it for about 2 years with it like that and no problems yet.
Off topic. Did you get your valve cleaner problem fixed on that 440 yet?

Message: Yes, as a matter of fact it is fixed. I had my father use the old school method of cutting notches in the flat tops in the motor and clean the shavings with a vacuum and q tips in the car. It's totally done now, just needs plates and insurance on it. Thanks for askin.
So no one know for sure if it will detonate? I guess i'll try it and find out. Thanks for your replies.
