Message: The gaskets are reusable as long as you do not rip
them when you remove the covers.
Just lay the covers on a rag on the floor, I use
a short 2X4 and just knock the baffles down just
be sure you let the ends open a little so your
PCV works and the oil will run in.
You can start with #1 cyl just use the TDC mark
on the vibration damper and get it on compresion
stroke both valves closed.
Remove all the spark plugs and is a 32mm socket
on the crank pully to rotate.
Once you are started just go down the fireing
order 165432 getting each to TDC and install 1
set at a time.
You can make sure your next cyl is at top by using
a screw driver or wooden dowel in the plug hole
just mark the height on the dowel while #1 is at
top with a piece of tape, now go in the next hole
#6 and bring it up to top and install.
Just get the push rod snug than 5/8 to 3/4 turn
and lock down. turn the push rod with your fingers
when it starts to get hard to turn that is where
you do the 3/4 turn more
The roller lifters in these motors require a .050 .060 pre load that is why you need the
3/4 turn
Spray the holes out with carb cleaner, than air
than install the stud and washer and use a drop
of blue locktight on each.
If you don't have air just turn the can upside
down spray untill just air comes out keep the
can upside down and spay the air in the hole.
This will clean any oil out and make your
locktight work good
